Hi Everybody,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some tips on what I should start doing in preparation for the NOA2? It's now been six months since our NOA1 and it seems that Vermont Service Center is starting to process/approve people from around the same NOA1 date as mine! I'm just wondering what things I can do early. Is it okay for my fiancé to ask the banks to start the letter for him now, and is it okay for me to start making appointments for my medical test and police test and so on?

Firstly can you please fill in your timeline? :)

You can get your police certificate, bank letter and other stuff now but you must wait for NOA2 to get your case number for the medical appointment. Most medical facilities won't let you book without it. You CAN get your vaccinations up to date and/or get a record of your immunities to prepare for the medical though.

09/15/12 - NOA2 received by mail

09/19/12 - NVC received petition and allocated case number

09/24/12 - NVC shipped case to embassy

09/25/12 - medical

09/28/12 - Embassy received case

10/02/12 - Packet 3 received

10/03/12 - Packet 3 mailed

10/18/12 - Packet 4 received

11/06/12 - Interview at Sydney embassy - APPROVED!

Depends on what state you are in. The Melbourne doctor didn't need a case number in order to get the medical done.

You should definitely get your police report done, this can take some time.

Get police check done based on fingerprints this can sometimes take up to 6 weeks.

You usually cant get your medical done without a case number but u can call around.

Get your Vaccinations up to date check the website to see which ones u need with in your age

2013-08-20 (DAY 8) Noa1 received via Text around 11pm, next day was email. Received my case numbers

2013-08-23 (Day 11)- received hard copy in mail for Noa1 gc , Work permit

2013-08-30 (Day 18) Received Biometrics appointment letter in the mail.

2013-09-17 (Day 25) biometrics appointment day @2pm Detriot

2013-09-25 (Day 33) received text and email , I485 changed to testing and interview

2013-10-02 (Day 40) received text message and email @7am about my interview date

2013-10-04 (Day 42) Received hard copy interview letter in the mail

2013-10-10 (Day 48) Work permit Card in production

2013-10-16 (Day 54) 2nd Text and email @830am Work permit in Production

2013-10-21 (Day 59) text/email notice 10am . Work Permit sent

2013-10-21(Day 59)Text/ email @9pm received text with tracking number -2 day delievery

2013-10-24(Day 62) received my work permit in the mail.

2013-10-25 Filled for my Social Security number today

2013-11-09 (Day 78) Welcome letter received - WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

2013-11-12 (Day 81) - Received text and email - Green card sent @1.15pm

2013-11-12 (Day 81) @9pm received text and email - with UPS tracking number - For Green card

Here is a list of my Packet 3 that they sent to me last year,

Get these things prepared

Form DS-230 Part I

Form DS-156 : 2 copies

BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Submit the original and one photocopy

AUSTRALIAN POLICE CERTIFICATE: Submit the original and one photocopy. The certificate must be issued on the basis of a fingerprint check.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT:

Form I-134 from your fiancé or U.S. sponsor. Original Required.

2010 U.S. Federal Income Tax Returns of your fiancé and/or joint sponsor. Form 1040 can be downloaded from www.irs.gov Copies accepted. Or;

A statement from your petitioning relative stating that s/he was not required to file a tax return and to state

the reasons that s/he was not required to file. Original Required.

Letter from your petitioning relative and/or joint sponsor’s employer verifying date of hire, position, wages or

salary, numbers of hours worked per week and permanency of the employment on company letterhead. Copies

accepted or, most recent pay stub.

PASSPORT: Please submit a photocopy of the biographic page of your passport. The original passport must be brought to your appointment and have at least 8 months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa.
