Recieved our NOA1 May 18 and based on the timeline I thought we'd have the NOA2 by now. Called CSC and go the standard answer, upto 5 or 6 months. But the timeline on this site says Aug 10. Are the timelines here really off by that much?

If I'm right about this the site gives you an estimate based on an average, but the average is calculated including everyone, including those of us who go through the filling from abroad fast lane. So obviously if you limit the category to non-fast lane people the normal time is more than the average.

The estimates on this site are based on people who actually fill out their timeline. Also you have to realize that VJ is only a small small percent of the filers. There's something like I heard 5000 or so petitions a month that go to service centers. We are less that 10% of that here.

Also CSC has been flyin until August 15th when all the deferred applications started. Now VSC is alittle catching up. But you really need to prepare for 5 to 6 months thats the service center goal. And its just a goal not a guarantee.

Case Complete to Interview spreadsheet

From now on your VJ Member name will be verified. If the name you put on form to be added to spreadsheet comes up not found, you will not be added to the spreadsheet. If you don't have a timeline you will not be added to the spreadsheet.

Please Please put your VJ member name only. Not nicknames or real names whatever your VJ name is. It's below your profile picture!!

Personally I think the timeline here is a disservice but to each his own.

Your transaction is with USCIS not VJ of who is just a small minority sampling of the immigration pool. VJ is good for stuff like immigration comradeship, passing time with others who are on a similar journey, the guides, etc

Don't get discouraged, it will be your turn soon. Just focus on getting your things ready for the next step of the journey and time will probably go by faster. The timeline prediction can't be depended on totally, but it's a good thing that you called CSC, I'm not sure when you can actually put in a service request.

i feel the same way before.. ive been down, discourage, frustrated and upset coz mostly filers after me were already approved, made me more jealous.. i really feel the same way, i even told my husband that i already give up and have to look for a job to make the days faster, i even posted here NOT FAIR coz why some filers after me were already approved and me, still not? if there's a problem with our paper they should send me RFE but you know during the day i posted last August 23,2012(western time) on my wall here, that was 7am here in Philippines which is august 24 already and i even post on my fb that i already lost hope on the same hour.. but still my faith in God is there, i thank god for everything, for the love of my son and husband and that i hope he'll give me another reason to smile on that day... i remember that was 7am and you know what, 2 hours after, when i check on my email, without me expecting, God just heard my prayers.. i received my NOA2 last August 23, 2012 in western time.. but in Philippines its 24.. why im saying this it's because in God' there is no impossible :) keep praying. and i know it will come soon :) not too soon im sure.. it will come one of this days :) HAVE FAITH :) GOD IS GOOD!

BTW, MY husband also called them twice as well they said we will hear the reply in 5 months after, if we dont receive anything after 5 months then that's the time we'll call them.. my lawyer said we shouldnt do that coz they might pull out our paper and it will take too long.. but ppffff... in 2 days after, we got our NOA2.. but just have faith ok?

!00% disagree with that statement. Timelines give people a broad range on when the can expect to get NOA2 etc. Since you don't have the courtesy to fill one out, I wonder why you even visit this website. Troll maybe?

For my husband it took 7 months. Sometimes they just fall behind and it takes longer so there is nothing to worry about but if it takes longer than 5 months I would call them every now and then to just check up on the process.

Always go by the processing time stated on USCIS for that service center. And use it at the minimum time frame - an RFE is only adding time to it but is not included in the processing time on USCIS. The same goes for when downloading forms; The most updated source of info is USCIS.

To put things in perspective, USCIS most likely calculates on the processing time before Visa Journey's members update their timelines. When USCIS is backlogged, you won't see it on Visa Journey until the cases become current or outside normal processing time.

Another factor is VJ also takes the expedites into the calculation. SO if no cases except for expedited ones have been updated on VJ for a specific month, that will mess timelines up for the rest and it'll say that your estimated NOA2 date will be alot sooner than what the reality is.

To sum it up; Don't start getting your hopes up for a fast approval, but keep 5-6 months in your head as the processing time. The other way will end up disappointing you. This way, you're going by USCIS' processing goal and anything before 5-6 months will be a nice surprise.
