Hello to all my Kababayans, is there anyone here experience living in the Philippines for more than 6 months and have no trouble coming back here in the US? My father have Immigrant Visa and he is now in the Philippines for more than 6 months and he wants to come back here. If you have the same expereince sa father ko, please share. Thank you..

I have a friend who stayed 11 months in the Phils.

He was questioned and got a stamped of warning on his passport,

though my mother in law also stayed 11 months then, and was not questioned,

maybe its a hit or miss, but basically, you won't be denied entry,

you'll be able to enter the US still...

The actual law states you can stay out of the u s for one year without a re-entry permit. However, after 6 months you will probably be questioned on why you were gone so long. You could actually be required to go before an immigration judge to explain why you were gone so long, however, it would probably not come to that unless there was a pattern. So if less than one year, have them come back, let the re-entry officer complain a little if he wants, then go on about your business. Sure bets waiting past a year and then re-applying.
