Can a U.S. Citizen carry a Decoy Passport in the event it is needed due to terrorist?

I travel some overseas and have always been concerned carrying a US passport as as a proud American, we still have many enemies. I remember reading years ago that a decoy passport from another country could be bought or issued by the US in the event of a hi-jacking or some other scenario where U.S. citizens were targeted one could flash a Icelandic passport or something similar. It seems in this every hostile growing world, no matter where you go whether just south to Mexico or Europe to Africa, we are targets. I don't know if these were just decoys made by some company and if so how much mustard they would cut or if they were issued by the D.O.S or some other group. It seems that since 9/11 these would have dis-appeared but I remember reading the article after that. These were strictly for self preservation and just to show, I doubt they would stand up to scanning or something else, but any info would be appreciated as to 1) If this was ever the case or I was mistaken? 2) Who issed or sold them? 3) Where they legal? 4( Are they legal? Any other info?

Thanks- Proud US Citizen

No country can hand out passports for other countries. The are the property of the country that issues them.

If you have reason to travel to 2 countries that are at war with each other it is possible to get 2 us passports. Then you use A when you go to sat Isreal and B when you go elsewhere in the middle east. They will both ne us passports. If you are a dual citizen you can have one from each place

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I can't speak for the USA, but I do know that some countries did issue multiple fake foreign passports to their diplomatic staff traveling as couriers (and possibly other diplomatic purposes) to be used in the events as you mentioned. However, Joe AverageCitizen would not be able to obtain such a document just for recreational or even business travel.

When I was still in Canada and working for the Member of Parliament we regularly had American visitors come into the office and ask for the little Canadian flag pins that we had available. One such visitor confided in me that he always pinned the Canadian flag pin on his jacket and any other Canadian paraphernalia he could get on his luggage, not because he was ashamed of being an American, but because he was a pragmatist. He knew for a fact that Canadian citizens were much better received overseas than American citizens.

I personally dont believe we R hated by all especially in Mexico, yep we do have some that dont like us

but most ppl like us, sometimes its the policies that causs the prob, anyways I think most ppl just want to get

here and better themselves, my friend from the island have held on to his island passport (legally) and always

carries it when travelling to Europe, but I wonder even if he hand that over to hijackers/whomever what if they

search him and find the other? he'd sure be in trouble with them, however there R some countries ppl can hold on to

passports there even though they become USA citizens.

I never heard of decoy passports.

The only thing that gets close, and that I can think of, is that exceptionally you can carry two valid US passports if you travel to the Middle East and needs to visit Israel in addition to other countries in the area.

In other instances, having a fake passport could land you in hot water with the FBI or Interpol if such documents were found during a routine inspection.

i dont recommend getting fake passport because then any authorities would have an issue saying who you are.. how do you prove you are john smith and not joe smith overseas, or vice versa? they don't have access to american records. i would just throw you in jail while we take our sweet time to sort things out.
