SD, what I have gotten out of this is that the OP has found out thru friends of the Nigeria community that her ex has a green card. She has narrowed it down to the fact that the only way he could have obtained it was by filing VAWA. Since as his sponsor and wife she did not file AOS for him.

Now all of the other pieces regarding, revenge and kamar are just discussion. I truly think she is over looking her blessing, because in this short period of time she has already found someone whom she consider to be better than what she lost.

Good luck to the OP going forward.

As I read this I cringe. The thought of another taking such advantage of ones kindness in unthoughtful and inconsiderate to say the least. Please know that you have one praying for you in the midst of it all. Gosh...I feel your pain. I've been through a bad divorce already and believe that God has answered my prayers with my fiance now. Stay strong...I know God has someone better for you.

Andy

Thank you for the wonderful blessing :-)

True

But then again this situation or ones very similar to it are very very common. And most people reading would be familiar with the issues and see no need to go though them again in great detail.

thanks dwheels76, for clarification of why people may be posting.

I thought my query was NOT out of topic: I was quoting OP sentence in its entirety, and seeing whether there was an important answer. Neither OP nor anyone else had it, unfortunately. Your suggestion to get such via InfoPass appointment: can you explain why they'd give out spousal status information? This is important

I thought my query was NOT out of topic: I was quoting OP sentence in its entirety, and seeing whether there was an important answer. Neither OP nor anyone else had it, unfortunately. Your suggestion to get such via InfoPass appointment: can you explain why they'd give me spouse's information?

I don't know if they would but at least with a INFOpass you get to see and sit down with a real life immigration person you know. And they can advise or whatever. Just saying. As far as Greencard and all that I would do some detective work. You have your case#'s all her information. You can call ask "when is my ROC or AOS appointment or whatever". But I would go to Infopass and tell them whats up.

I so disagree with people saying move on. I guess I am a hell naw person and believe you hobo off of me and got to US on my dime and you use me and say this about me. Like I kid my husband all the time "I have a gun and a shovel and I know how to use both". I don't have either but you feel me on that.

So call make the appointment. And sorry if I sounded not nice didn't mean to just was also feeling your frustration because you weren't getting your answers.

The way the US makes rules gender blind has made it overly easy for a male foreigner to scour the internet for a USC and get them to provide entry to the US simply so that they can manufacter false evidence of abuse and then grab a green card on their own as the start of the immigration chain for others back home. Even though the real VAWA victim deserves safety and benefits there should be more protection to the unaware USC , whose runaway spouse is making all kinds of lies against them just to play the US immigratoin system. I think every accused party in VAWA needs the opportunity to present their side of the tale and to be aware that their spouse is playing the VAWA card. I bet the OP would have shut the door after the first episode of the vanishing spouse had she known what he was doing.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

True, the USC is tried and convicted even though they never knew they were charged with a crime ... in a sense ... and many lives have been ruined because of the beneficiary's ill intentions.

The OP has two presenting problems:

1.) There's no telling the lengths her ex-husband went to in order to secure status. It seems the OP has been out of the country (in Ghana? am I right?) and it's possible she has legal trouble and doesn't know it.

While it may be 'out there' in terms of possibilities, it's not like it hasn't happened to others.

2.) The ex-husband doesn't seem to understand minors are off limits when it comes to secksy talk, nekkid photos, meet-ups, etc. Please, OP, go to the police. If the 16 year old were my daughter, I would hope someone would do that and protect her.

I get that anyone can make a facebook page and pretend to be whoever they choose, but at least you'll know you tried.

I appreciate your interest and advice (there is no reason to think I disregard any). Only one point here coincided with my case; so why talk about my case? On your other point, are topics off-limits(?), I see scores members commenting on every topic... I wondered why discussion appeared hypothetical, skewed and judgemental. Not sure there is a powerful lesson this way, no?

WOW. I thought this was a discussion not a "how to help YOU post". You seem to have VJ mixed up with an officially Immigration site. You have asked the same question about 10 times. If you need to know if your spouse got a greencard I suggest you call immigration to find out. Make an Infopass appointment and go in person. State your situation and I am sure they can help or advise you.

The OP was asking for advice and really I believe a more "heads up" and a pouring out her soul to us. Your sour grapes because someone isn't placating you is really childish.

You ask why its so popular who knows why some are here and some are looking from afar. Her posting I bet has alerted someone even one maybe to their situation. That is why we post. To inform, to educate and yes sometimes just to vent or God forbid have fun.

If you feel you need more thorough information not given on this post I would suggest to open your own topic and state your case and I am sure some experts will gladly come and post and assit you.

I do believe after SingleDad's posts received hundreds and hundreds of comments, he was banned from ever posting again. So therefore, results to posting on other's topics that have ANYTHING to do with VAWA in hopes of getting information (which by the way he has been advised SEVERAL times what to do, but decides its not good enough).

Ugh. OP, I am very sorry for your situation. I wish you all the best and hope you and your new husband are happy and are enjoying just being together! Blessings.
