Right now CSC is processing March 2011 applicants for I-485 based on Employment

Just go here and look at processing times.

Is it same wait as for those AOS via Family based?

So if now they're processing march 2011, if my friend only applied last month, would it make theirs more months more to go? like more than a year maybe???

It really depends. Family based without an interview(AOS from K1, some of these) take alot longer than the ones with interview. The service center/local office the case is at it's a factor as well.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

Look at the date on the receipt(NOA1) - that usually determines when his time will come. People with a NOA1 date in march are having their cases adjudicated now(if the processing times are updated, of course).

March 2011 is for adjustment of status based on employment @CSC... not family based

so is it correct that if they applied july 2012, theirs will be mid of 2013 ???

Working on March 2011 now, so that is 17 months. Someone filing July 2012 would be looking at Dec. 2013 for an approval, if it stays with that same time frame.

WOW thats quite LONG time as compared to AOS via k1 because some on k1 gets like an interview in 3-4 months or if k1 does not go thru interview, its like 8months to 1 year wait time....

I did not know that AOS via Employment is that LONG..and would u know HOW Long is the Green card issued for those AOS via Employment???

The Bottom line is the whole process takes a long time. The best thing to do is just wait. If you file and are counting the days since you filed for a particular benefit, you will become angry and frustrated with the whole process. I wish USCIS could stream line and become more efficent at working on cases, but that is not going to happen anytime soon. Things are only getting worse with USCIS or INS. Most Americans do not have a clue what USCIS even is, and I would say 99.9% of Americans could care less about it. This is something they do not have to deal with so why should they care? This is why nothing will change to make it a better process for all.
