Here are the members of the birther bunch who will be speaking in Tampa next week:

1. Donald Trump.
The famed billionaire/birther king Donald Trump has been the
— and most
— person alleging that the President wasn’t born in the United States.

2. Actress Janine Turner.
The Northern Exposure star who has her own conservative radio show wrote a
titled “Reasoning ‘Kenyan Born.’” In it, she complains that anyone who questions the president’s citizenship is deemed a racist: “If this were a legal case in court, [Obama's] book bio stating that Obama was ‘born in Kenya’ would be taken into consideration.”

3. Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens.
During a town hall
(at 3:5), Olens said, “You know the state of Hawaii says he’s produced a certified birth certificate… so on one hand I have to trust the state of Hawaii follows the laws. On the other hand it would be nice for the President to say, here it is, I have a copy.”

4. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
On one radio appearance during Huckabee’s bid for president,
, “I would love to know more [about where Obama was born]. What I know is troubling enough.” He later walked back the statement.

5. Florida Gov. Rick Scott.
In 2010, the
than an audience member at one of Scott’s campaign events asked “what he would do about President Obama’s ‘birth certificate’ and whether he could legally appear on the 2012 ballot in Florida.” Scott responded, “I’ll have to look into it.”

6. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA).
The Vice-Chairman of the House Republican Conference once
“Oh, I’d like to see the documents.”

7. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Jindal was willing to sign a
into law. It would have required all presidential candidates to release their birth certificate in order to qualify for a spot on the state’s ballot.

Nostalgia only goes so far ;)

Comes a time when even the Democrats will want someone who is actually worth voting for as a politician.

If ever they can combine the political nous of Bill Clinton with a decent human being, we're looking at a two-term shoo-in for the Presidency

I don't see Mitt and the GOP rolling Bush out at the convention. Clinton is a big plus for Obama on the campaign trail. People have fond memories of the Clinton economy and they will listen to what he has to say.

Trouble is, looking back won't help Obama looking forward.

No, but a former President remembered for a kick-#### economy, over 20 million jobs and balanced budgets endorsing Obama's path forward will go a long way.

Or maybe it will serve to highlight the glaring differences, the tanking jobs market and the runaway deficits and make Obama look worse, when compared to Clinton's record in office.

Remember, it's not the Democrat convention-goers that he has to persuade.

And maybe Clinton can shed some light on the "party first, ** the country" game Republicans have been playing. Clinton's appearance won't turn birthers and right wing nuts around. That's not the population that Democrats are worried about. Those on the fence will be presented with a case of forward and toward a healthy economy like we had in the 90's or back to the Bush years with some more trickle down voodoo and another lost decade for most Americans. That's the choice and I think Clinton is a guy that can make the case with a good degree of credibility.

He's more likely serve as a highlight to the swing voters of the continuing weakness of the economy under Obama's stewardship. Nostalgia for a past President in the absence of any real policy substance won't win over those voters that remain undecided. And the Democrats seem intent on campaigning on a platform of anything but real policy substance.

So can you tell me what has been so great about Obama's presidency. I mean the Debt has skyrocketed. We have ballooned food stamp rolls. Unemployment up etc etc. He has done very little of what he promised. I know the answer. it's all Bush's fault but you can only blame the last guy so long right >?

Is that so? I understand what Democrats are running on. I don't know what Mitt is running on. I don't think he knows either. 12 million jobs over the next 4 years and energy independence by 2020. He might throw in $2.00/gal gas for good measure. Doesn't matter since none of that will happen anyway. He says he will deliver tax cuts for all and more military spending which is to be served with a side of balanced budgets. Not that he has yet told anyone how all that will happen. He says he will repeal Obamacare and not make any changes to Medicare although repealing Obamacare would necessarily change Medicare. It would rip back open the doughnut hole, Medicare would again pay more to insurance companies and providers which increases seniors' out of pocket expenses and take away the free annuals seniors now enjoy. And it would hasten Medicare's insolvency pulling that up from 2024 to 2016. Now if that voodoo passes for a plan with you, I've got a few bridges for sale.

Yes, there was no depression, we are not shedding hundreds of thousands of jobs every month anymore, we have started to lay the foundation for a new energy economy. We still have a viable auto industry. Manufacturing is actually growing once more. We've reduced our dependence on foreign oil. Health care reform has taken a first step. I see significant infrastructure work in Tampa Bay thanks to the stimulus. Aside from my home losing significantly in value (something that's not attributable to this administration), I have personally done very well over the last four years. Obama made mistakes. The biggest mistake in my opinion was not grabbing on to the Simpson-Bowles commission recommendations and making those a centerpiece of his fiscal policy. Big opportunity missed on that one. Aside from that, he's made the best out of what he was handed.
