I had one of those when I was younger! They're super cute, but they're nocturnal, so if you do get one DON'T put him in your bedroom - he'll keep you up all night! I learned that the hard way!

Aww THANKS for the advice :))

I dont know if we will get one, but if we do I'll read alot about it. They are soo cute but it's not same as cat or dog. I mean, can you build same kind of relationship with a hedgehog that you would create with a dog?

No, not really. I mean you can socialize them and play with them, but it's more like having a lizard or something - they won't show you affection back like a dog does. They're awful cute though! :P

To be honest, I am scared to death !! I am a french canadian and going to the US where I would not be able to speak french freaks me out ! Also the healthcare system there gives me the creeps ! The only thing I am looking foward to is to finally be with my love and that is all that matters ! :D

Don't stress. depending on the state you're moving to, there's always Alliance Francais (yes it's not Quebecois French), Meetup and other organizations. How about teaching the future hubby some Quebecois French? Bonne Chance!!! :star:

Christmas.. I love all the lights and decorations and Christmas music everywhere.. Aus and NZ is so lame - in comparison- when it comes to getting in the spirit.

and Halloween.

Where in Oz did you live?? Out west we light up everything in sight!!! :star:

My situation is a bit different as I live in a town bordering the USA so I can take advantage of many things that everyone else is looking forward to (parks, US TV, US delivery etc.) I go to sports games and concerts so I'm okay on that front. guess what I'm looking forward to the most is not having that knot in my tummy every time I cross the border. I look forward to crossing freely (I'm keeping my job in Canada as the job outlook in my hubby's home state is so dreadful). I want to be with Marco and cross freely. :innocent:

- Food still : I LOVE japanese there, it's AWESOME!! Also chinese buffets are huuuuge and soo cheap, good american burgers and meat (steak, ribs). Also cheap menus (even with salmon!! So expensive in france).

The first time my husband came here to visit, I took him to a China Buffet. Mind. Blown. He could not believe that you could honestly eat all you wanted included in a single price. It prompted him to say "No wonder Americans are so fat. You can eat all this food for nothing and it all tastes so damn good!". I'm not sure a truer observation has ever been spoken. He also wanted to go to Wal-Mart at like 2am just because he could once he heard about 24/7 store openings.

Hedgehog!

They are super cute, I had one when I was living in Canada on a working holiday. Definitely not the same kind of relationship as with a dog. But they're neat little things. I built mine's cage, it was a cool little two story thing. But he really only cared for his wheel and his igloo. He'd never come out and say hi to me, unless I had worms for him. He was a few years old when I got him though, so maybe if you got one as a baby and developed a bit more of a bond with it you'd have more fun. Don't put it in your room though haha. They run in their wheel ALL NIGHT LONG. So unless you're a deep, deep sleeper.... I miss my hedgehog, I'm definitely hoping to get another one at some point once I'm really settled in to the US :)

When I first got mine (I must have been nine or so) I didn't know this, and thus didn't buy him a wheel. His cage had a ramp that led to a "second floor" platform if you will. Since he didn't have a wheel, he would run around the ground floor, up the ramp, and jump off the platform to continue his circuit. Needless to say I told my mom we needed a wheel after the first few nights of mayhem.

Hubby isn't here yet but he wants to see Chicago and the museums. He wants to taste "cowboy food" (he watches a lot of westerns). I told him I will make chili. He is amazed by the thought of driving everywhere without restrictions. He wants to see the red rock desert which blew me away because I have always wanted to visit some of our more beautiful deserts. He wants to mow the grass and plant a garden and wash my car. Yes, he said that. Hot water 24/7 - the city shuts the water off every night in Kosovo, about 10:30 pm to 3 am, usually. Some of those don't qualify as little.
