Do dating websites (exclude free ones) like eharmony and match.com work? I mean it maybe a good tool to find a date, but does it work for a person who is seriously seeking a marriage partner? My friend is VERY marriage minded and he is thinking about joining. He's my long time friend and I really want him to be happy. Does anybody have first hand experience? Thank you.

I met mine on eharmony. I'm 37 from NZ/Australia, and hes 34 from Chicago/Hawaii. We are not married yet, but clearly we are in the process of heading that way.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good our match was, he said the same too, not everyone has the same experience, but our opinion was that eharmony did a good job matching us, with likes and interests, we somehow complimented each other. He had been on a few local dates via eharmony prior to meeting me, I had been on a few dates in my local area too, nothing was bad, it was fun, but with each other, we clicked. Every dating site has pros and cons and fair share of fake profiles and married individuals looking for an affair, just need to keep your eyes wide open, learn how to spot a con artist and be safe. The thing I liked about eharmony is that you can't browse a ginormous database for people. Australia has their own version of eharmony too, not every country does, I ticked the option to include US and Canada in my matches as I was thinking about moving to Canada (dual citizen) and didn't want to be distracted by dating locally too much at the time.

It doesn't matter so much how you meet someone, while its probably easier on a dating profile to lie, a person can still mis-represent themselves if you meet them in a traditional way too.

I met my current husband on eHarmony. And we clicked from the first moment. I had never thought I would fall in love and marry a man from soooo far away, and the distance sucked but here we are happy together. He is from Australia and I from CA.. It works, but of course there are frauds out there, anywhere. Plus your marriage minded friend isn't going to meet his future wife in a bar/club right??

Well everyone is entitled to an opinion, and we do not all have to agree. I would say any meeting situation should be taken with caution. My current spouse had friends attempting to set him up prior to coming to the states with woman/girls that wanted to immigrate to Australia from their countries.. Isn't that a bit alarming as well?? I think with any situation you must be cautious and careful. But let's face it, the world does not operate the way it did 50 years ago. Just my two cents, take it or leave it!!

Hummmm he already got a fraud from some free dating website. Chinese girl admitted that she was dating him only to get a green card. I thought website that requires membership fee might have less fraud cases, but maybe not...huh? He's attracted to Asian girls only for some reason. He doesn't mind relocating to Asia.

As internet dating sites go, eHarmony is a particularly marriage oriented one (and also has a somewhat religious ethos to it, they won't match atheists or same sex couples).
