ASSET CONFUSION!!!!

Hey all, I am beginning to get stressed because my RFE said that I needed to send proper assets because my Father (our Joint Sponor's) income was not high enough. I have copies of his past 12 months' bank statements.

Calculated, his assets need to be $8,500 or more.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???????

Do I average his total bank balances from the past 12 months or what?????

I am so lost and running out of time! (20 days left!)

It is talking about the i-864, for joint sponsor.

We used the value of our home as an asset and investments. We showed the value through a recent appraisal and that it was not mortgaged as well as investment statements for the last 6 months showing that the account has history. I think if you want to show cash in the bank as an asset then you would need to show history of it being there so perhaps several months of statements showing a steady balance would suffice.

I'm sure that others will have more input.
