It is more than that.

If you want to interview the candidate who may become the next president of the US you must not ask questions about abortion or tax returns.

As a candidate for the position of leader of the free world, he denies the press freedom of speech.

How is he denying the press freedom of speech exactly?

The reporter is Shaun Boyd of Denver CBS affiliate KCNC. CBS Denver News Director Tim Wieland wrote on Twitter that the station was first “asked not to question him about abortion” and then later told that ”Romney would also not talk about Akin.” He added that the station “sought reaction” to the Romney camp’s stipulations from viewers.

If the media isn't allowed to ask questions which the press deems relevant, then there can be no free press. I remember growing up in East Germany where the press only reported what the elite wanted them to report, only asked the questions that were approved by the politburo. Where the press was nothing but the mouthpiece of the politburo. The freedom of the press was guaranteed in the Constitution last I checked. Seems that Mitt and his campaign don't really care much about that ole' document.

So Romney is stopping them from printing articles in the newspaper, or running stories on TV?

If a reporter asks me a question I don't want to answer, that's somehow violating the first amendment? The media outlets should take him to court if he's violating first amendment rights. As far as I can tell, the media can ask him anything they want. I don't think the media has any right to be on his campaign bus. I never saw that one in the constitution.

Looks like we need a 28th amendment. "The media shall be allowed to be with the candidate at all times and all questions must be answered on demand"

The reporters have been told they cannot ask the questions. This isn't the same as him not responding questions. Read my quote.

Did he put duct tape over their mouth or threaten to have them arrested? What's the recourse if they ask the questions he told them not to ask? Do they get thrown in jail?

We don't need any such amendment. What we do need are candidates for office who will not dictate to the media what questions they are allowed to ask. A candidate can certainly refuse to answer a question - or in the case of Romney's campaign tell reporters to "kiss my a$$" and "shove it" - and let people draw their own conclusions from such answers or non answers. But to dictate to reporters what they may ask leaves a real bad taste with me. That's the kind of stuff that would have made Kim Jong Il proud.

That isn't the point.

I guess your point is he told some reporters not to ask some questions he didn't want to answer. I'm still trying to figure out where in the constitution you can't tell someone not to ask you a question.

Why can't he do this?

Michael Baumgartner, a Republican Senate candidate from the great state of Washington, has told a reporter at Seattle Met magazine to "go f--k yourself" after asking Baumgartner to clarify his position on abortion.

Point taken except the Kim Jong Il hyperbole. I 100% agree with the bolded above. Leaving a bad taste, or looking like an a$$hole is cool with me. People will make up their own minds based on that.

I agree that it looks bad for him to do that, but saying that he's interfering with the freedom of the press is a big stretch.

 See what kind of trouble answering questions can get you?
