Hi All,

I got US Citizenship Cert. thru Naturalization. I sponsored my parents (IR-5) and they got visas this May. It

s been a year since the day I started the sponsor paperwork. I forgot at what stage (USCIS or NVC) I submitted my original US Citizenship Cert. I can't find it anywhere in my house either. Can someone remind me if the original US Citizenship Cert is required for submittal during the sponsor process? Thanks.

Check the USCIS website. you can request for another certificate but it will cost you about $400+.

1/18/2013 - Married

3/5/2013 - Filed AOS, EAD & AP

3/7/2013 - USCIS Chicago rec'd applications

3/12/2013 - USCIS sends NOA1 email

you can use a copy of the naturalization or your united states passport,to prove your a citizen of the united states,if you apply for a new naturalization certificateyou down load it from uscis website form N-565 application for replacement naturalization the fee is 345.00 dollars, and it takes a long time to getyou need two passport photos, next time make copies and keep it in a safe place it just like your birthcertificate.

I'm sorry if my question is not clear enough for you. I didn't ask how to re-apply for a new cert. What I meant was: if any of you sponsor for your parent(s) or fiance/spouse, at what stage (USCIS or NVC) you had to submit your original US Naturalization Cert? Or the original cert was never required by USCIS and/or NVC? Thanks.

Original - never. I only ever sent a copy of the naturalization certificate and petition was approved with that. Why would you mail original to either USCIS or NVC?

The reason I posted the question is because it's been a year and I don't remember if I submitted the original or copy. If the original is not required, chances are I didn't submit the original and it's still in my house.
