All between 10-14 days. I only met a few of his family, his brother and his mother.

No friends? No coworkers? No neighbors? No grandparents? No uncles? No father? There were only two children in his family?

He says that is is sooooo difficult to survive there--well, how has he done it up to this point? I would hope that he has a job currently. I would also hope that "you" are not his job.

We were together in January 2011 (We met), May 2011 ,August 2011 and December 2011. All between 10-14 days. I only met a few of his family, his brother and his mother.

I thought u guys met in Feb. And not Jan? And why didn't you met the rest? Most jamaicans i know you meet alot of the family.

but i guess it could be different for all.

I was there for like the last week in January and the first week in February, we met somewhere during that time, i honestly don't remember which month. Could be either. We didn't really called it a relationship until i got back home.

oh i forgot the other part of your question. the rest of his family live in another place or something, he call it the country.

I have met a few 'friends' i guess, they are not very 'friendly'. He actually has a big family but they don't live in kingston. He doesn't know his dad. He only lives with his brother and Mom in Kingston. His family lives in Elizabeth.

He has rights as a father, US and Jamaica have reciprocity rights toward custody and childsupport within some states in the US. I really doesn't matter where he lives he has rights as a father.

He has the father has done no know harm toward the child, the parents are at conflict, not child and parent.

As the parent of the child she may have to deal with him for the next 18 years, if ther was no child she could leave him in the wind and hve no follow up. Since there will be a child between the two, they will have to deal with each other.

Interesting

Any thoughts on how that actually plays out.. he cant come to the USA, he would have to file a claim from jamaica.. Simply hard to imagine how that would happen.. He would need to hire a US based lawyer maybe? The US lawyer would then make a claim for some sort of custody, visitation, and so forth, is that the way it works? How about child support for the custodial parent? Does the US have the same reach to demand he pays child support?

This is interesting..

Below is a list of Foreign Reciprocating Countries.. Doesnt appear to contain Jamaica,,

Australia

Canada

Czech Republic

El Salvador

Finland

Hungary

Ireland

Israel

Netherlands

Norway

Poland

Portugal

Slovak Republic

Switzerland

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

Cant find anything regarding children of a forreign parent born in the US, however there are laws governing children abducted from a parent abroad, but that doesnt apply since the child will hopefully be born in the USA.. Eitherway, it seems the "so called" father would have to pay all the fees to retain a US Lawyer and there doesnt seem to be much informaation available regarding a case like this where the father has no status in the US and the mother and child live in the USA,,

Although, doubt a case could be made under the Hague Convention based on child abduction,

Hague Abduction Convention Country List also does not include Jamaica..

Life's Journey, if you have some helpful resource to help our OP, it would be a good thing for her to factor into her planning...

K, if he found her to petition for him, why do you think he won't find another YDS USC to petition for him. If he has tried 8 times to get to the US, he will try a 9th time and he may/will succeed. So as I say, that child will tie her to him.

The US and Jamamica does have reciprocity between certain states. Second, you are making an assummumption that he doesn't have any tie to the US, he may have more family in the US than in Jamaica. We don't know any of this, and the OP doesn't either based on what she has posted.

Perhaps. It depends on the father. However, having a child in the USA does not give father any open door to a visa to come to the USA. I doubt it would come to that but I suppose it's possible for the father to obtain a court order for the mother to bring the child to Jamaica for a visit at some point. It's certainly possible for the mother to obtain a court order for child support. Without court orders though, there are no 'have to's" regarding dealing with the father.
