Hi All,

I went for my medical today and I thought I would let everyone know how it went since Woking isn't open anymore.

I got P4 on Monday and emailed Dr. Gulzar Cheema's office immediately, they got back to me with available times a few hours later, they said they are flexible and open I think any day of the week but like to make appointments in the early AM.

Getting there from Van in a car is very easy, took me about 30mins this morning. There is free parking for 2 hours. I could see taking the bus as a pain. So those who are from out of town I would consider looking at taking a cab from a certain point.

I was there 10 minutes early and everyone was very helpful. My physical was painless and I was out of their office in 30 minutes and onto blood work and my x-ray. Both blood work and x-ray are located in a building on 12 blocks north of Dr. Gulzar Cheema's office. It looked like there were buses heading north so that is one way to get there, but it would be a long walk.

Blood was fast, but there was a line of people waiting for x-rays before they opened. But I was in and out of both places within an hour. So all and all a good experience, I just have to pick up my results late tomorrow.

Hope this helps someone!

My husband used Dr Cheema's office for his medical, and had a stellar experience!

He called on a Tuesday to make an appointment - he was on holiday for the remainder of the week, so asked if they could fit him in...and they could, 2 days later! Awesome.

It took him less time than anticipated to reach the office via taxi from the airport, and Dr Cheema's staff were happy to process him a bit early. He says the exam was brief but professional. Lab and X-ray were smooth and with only short waits (15ish minutes each). He flew back home the same evening, results made it to him Monday via Purolator (his medical was on a Thursday, and the results were mailed).

His only words of caution...watch out for crazy drivers in the adjacent parkinglot! Recommends Dr Cheema and his staff without reservation.

Sorry to invade this post but I was wondering if anyone could help me, whos already done their medical.

I just scheduled the medical for Sept 9th. It says I must bring a letter with my NAME, CASE NUMBER, and INTERVIEW DATE. Well on the appointment confirmation email for the interview it states my name and the interview date but not my case number. Is this the letter they are talking about? It says they cannot see someone who doesn't have a letter with those three things on it. So what do I do?

It's been awhile but I seem to recall the case number for Vancouver starts with the letter V somewhere.... try looking at all your correspondence from the Vancouver consulate and see if you can find a number like that somewhere.

Thanks for your reply. I do know my case number, I'm just wondering what letter the medical office is referring to because I do not have one that states all three: the case number, my name AND interview date. Will Vancouver send me a letter in the mail with my interview date after I booked it online? Or can I bring two separate documents like my interview confirmation email that has my name and interview date, and then a piece of mail like the packet 3 instructions that have my name and case number ?

I would think that would be fine. If it makes you feel better just bring everything! I think they just wanted to see confirmation I had an email scheduled and then possibly the number to relay the information or some other reason. I don't recall it being an issue for me. Maybe someone else has an idea!
