My wife applied for AOS along with EOD & AP back in July 25th, 2012.

USCIS received them on 7/27/12, sent NOAs on 7/31 for I-130, I-131, I-485, and I-765.

And, her biometrics NOA was sent on 8/02/2012, scheduled on 8/23/2012, which she got it done in this morning!

Now, she is waiting for EOD & AP to arrive, but the problem is that, her OPT from F-1 Visa expires on 10/02/12.

She got a job offer in NYC which starts in couple weeks, and we are afraid she might not get the EOD before the expiration.

My questions are,

1) For people who recently applied for AOS & EAD, how long did it take to get EAD from the date of Docs Acceptance from USCIS, and from the date of Biometrics done?

2) I read from other posts, they get emails of Card productions.

Does the email give you any authorized numbers?

Is it possible to keep working as long as you get this email confirmed for EAD?

Or do you need the actual card on hand?

Her AOS is going as planned, but it's very time sensitive right now!!!

Any response will help us greatly to get ready and come up with some kind of an excuse or explanation to her employer in case she does not get it b4 the expiration...

thank you!!!

1) It usually takes 2-3 months. I got mine after 2 months, or 1 month exactly after my biometrics.

2) The email will just be an update which tells you the card production was ordered. There is no number. You will have to wait for the actual card on hand to start working. Anyway it takes about a week after the EAD approved update to receive the card.

It is very likely her EAD won't be approved in a couple of weeks. I would talk with the employer and explain the situation. If they want her, they can maybe wait until her EAD.

I would say she will get her EAD around end of September/October so yeah, that's tight, but not impossible.

My advice is to create a VJ timeline and add her EAD NOA date so you will have an estimation on when she may receive her approval based on data from VJ members who got a recent approval.

It depends if the case is transferred to California SC or if the case is sent to the local USCIS office. Mine was sent to my USCIS office, I got my interview letter before my EAD approval, but received my EAD card before my interview (look at my timeline, and please, create one :)).

If your case is sent to CSC, it is very likely you'll have the EAD approval first.

Anyway, the interview letter doesn't grant any work authorization.
