Green Card under VAWA

Hi

I got my 10 year green card one month ago, under VAWA. Although not divorced (because costs a lot to get attorney), we have been separated a while and in fact, that is what my I-360 was filled under, his abusive behavior (and approved), I then went on to file the I-485.

Yesterday my estranged spouse called to say that they had sent a letter to his house, even though USCIS sent all other documentation to my own address, as they know I left the marital residence, to say that the application which was filed in 2004 for me was approved. The thing is, that application was denied, I then went on to file on my own.

What he is implying is that he is somehow responsible for me getting green card, when all my documentation filed with I-485 documents the suffering he put me through and I made them aware at once when I left him. His name was on no part of my I-485 apart from to say we are still married etc, in fact, I told the interviewing officer that.

It burns me up that my ex (who has psychiatric issues) now thinks he is responsible for me having got my green card.

I find it strange they have sent notification letter to him. Although I got green card, I myself had no "welcome letter" as such, just the brochure Welcome To The United States

Are you sure he's not lying? I don't think they send word to the estranged spouse - that can be dangerous.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

There is no way he got any letter from USCIS regarding your approval, period. You had your I-751 approved based in Vawa, it means he is not your sponsor anymore, and you got your green card as a battered individual. He haz zero, nothing, nada to do with your green card. Tell him to f@#%#@ off . Good luck.
