Hello to all August filers!

We are also from August. We got an RFE the end of November, submitted the things they were requesting the end of December, so hopefully we All get an answer soon!

Our case was transfered to NBC also, but when we got the RFE they were requesting the info at our local Chicago office.

That sounds correct. Your filing date was after the 15th of August, when the NBC began transferring cases to the local offices. Your case sounds like it is at the local office being processed. That's fine. The only trouble with this is that it's very hard to get information about the case when it's at the local office unless you request an InfoPass appointment, which you have the option of doing, but you may want to reserve for when you suspect problems.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

All advice is given pursuant to the Disclaimer that you may read at the bottom of each forum page.

LATEST STEPS:

28 Jun 2013: POE Houston

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

Thank you for your answer that gives me a little peace of mind that my case got transfered correctly, because I seen someone elsa saying that if the cases are transfered to a local office is because they are going to require an interview. I hope WE ALL GET AN ANSWER QUICKLY!

Actually that was me. The ISO told me that, but if you read the link in the other thing I posted, you'll see that standalone I-130s filed after August 15 are going to be sent to local offices for normal processing. There's no need to worry about being interviewed unless you think something is going on with your case.

And if you do end up in an interview, don't worry about it.

Someone recently had one of these interviews and it was pretty much pointless and painless.

They just asked about their relationship and that was that.

Who told about the I 130 filed alone after August are going to be sent to local office. It is that a true information? so what was the reason for transferring them in the first place to the NBC if they were not to be processed there? if this is true that a bummer because my local office is VSC and is going to take another 3 months easy to be processed. and I been told that the reason for transferring them to NBC was to speed up process. I guess did not apply for us because a lot of later dates cases have been approved already.

There's the link. It depends when you filed, coolguy13... they don't transfer all apps, but they probably transferred yours if you filed after August 15. If your petition was filed after then, and it was transferred, your timing is no0t based on the VSC delay but on whatever is going on at your local office. Some are quicker than others, which is why later cases are getting approved earlier. You can't rely on your number anymore as a gauge to when you'll be processed. They've messed things up completely and there is no transparency as the field offices are not reporting anything. Don't assume any timing for sure, and remember what my therapist says... "delay is not the same thing as denial".

I want to keep track of dates for the immigration steps we've taken so far and timeline doesn't have place for 2nd I-130. So I've just added the timeline info for his mom's petition in About me section. Our NOA1 date is August 28.

Hi all,

my husband file for the petition in mid August 2012. Until now, we haven't received anything from the USCIS. OUr file was transfeered to MO NBC office, and I am worried we haven't heard anything from them. It also said (on case status) our case was last updated on 4th of September 2012.

Other people have been approved and received their NOA2. We haven't. Is there anything we can do to find out what's going on? Thank you!
