My wife is currently a conditional permanent resident. We timely filed an I-751 last fall. She attended two biometrics appointments, and just like with her initial petition, the fingerprints were not satisfactory. The only thing we need for final approval is an Affidavit of Good Conduct showing she has not been arrested etc.

We have two problems. First, I somehow misplaced the original I-797 notice saying her status was extended for 1 year. Second, the only photo ID's she has are an expired foreign passport and an expired Conditional Green Card. We live in the city, so she does not have a driver's license and has never applied for a non-driver's state id. We may have to do that eventually, but without any valid photo id or proof of status, I'm not sure how that process will go.

Our local police department refused to issue an Affidavit of Good Conduct because there was no current ID. We have an Infopass appointment for next week hoping to get a stamp on her green card, but the deadline to get the Affidavit in is looming.

Is there any other way to get this Affidavit or comply with the requirements? Several people we spoke to at USCIS on the phone were less than helpful and just kept repeating to do what was on the form requesting the police affidavit.

Also, the Infopass system was very complicated and I think we made a pretty generic appointment. Any tips on how to get that stamp next week? What will they require?

I feel like we are in a real quandary without any current photo id. And she will likely kill me if this is not resolved.

One step toward a solution would be obtaining a valid passport from the nearest consulate or embassy.

I will definitely look into that. I have never had a passport, but I figured the photo id and other requirements may be fairly burdensome. The state ID was too burdensome, she would not have sufficient proof of identity as far as I can tell, because of the expiration issues.

Thanks.

By the way, can anyone tell me if USCIS would have sent an RFE requesting other evidence yet? Filed I795 last September, two biometrics interviews took place this winter and spring, and we have received the latest notice this summer. Our evidence was much weaker than some of the other posts I've seen around here and now I'm getting nervous that there will be yet another hurdle.
