He is a serious candidate. Why?

Since Eisenhower was inaugurated in 1953 we have had 36 years of Republican presidents.

Eisenhower - 8 years <----2 surpluses (1956 and 1957)....<----6 deficits

Nixon + Ford = 8 years <----deficits every year

Reagan = 8 years <----deficits every year

Bush 43 = 8 years <----deficits every year

Bush 41 = 4 years <----deficits every year

So....If you take the last 28 years from Nixon to Bush 43 you get ALL DEFICITS

Then you start with Eisenhower's last few years (1961, 1960, 1959, 1958)....ALL DEFICITS

So last 32 years of Republican leadership has been 32 years of deficits. You go back 33 years and you finally get that surplus in '57.

Ryan balances the budget in 30 only if you believe - as he does - that the trickle down fairy will bring us sustained unemployment rates of under 2.5% and annual growth rates not heard of in the industrialized world in decades. Now I don't know about you but the trickle down fairy hasn't delivered anything like that as far back as I can remember. I don't know what kind of a deal Ryan has with the trickle down fairy but I won't bet my future on whatever deal that is.
