Obtaining traffic violations disposition certificates

Hi,

I am currently living in PA for almost 5 years now. Before that I had lived and carried driver's license for NJ, MA, CT, TX, again CT before finally calling PA, the home.

While filling out the N400 form I mentioned 1 traffic ticket that I got in NYS (Rochester) back in 2009. This is the only ticket that I have received in the past 5 years. I have the ticket # and payment status in my email when I paid for it online. Would that be enough or do I need to call NYS DMV to ask for a certified disposition receipt?

Now, here is a twist - when I filled out the application form I was under the impression that I have to report any violations in the past 5 years. However, now reading through various posts/forums it seems like we are supposed to discolse everything from the day we landed here in US. Well, if that is the case then:

1) I had my first speeding ticket back in 2001 in MA (CT drivers license) - for this I plead not-guilty and went for a hearing. At the hearing, the officer did not show up and the judge reduced the fine for me and I paid the reduced fine

2) 2002 (or maybe 2003) in FL (CT drivers license) - I had not moved to TX by that time and thus was using the rental car for a road trip from Houston to Orlando. On my way back got pulled over for doing 100mph in 80mph zone! Unfortunately I lost the citation slip and did not pay that until 2004 - and that happened when I was converting my TX license to CT

3) 2005 in MA (CT drivers license) - I promptly paid the ticket on time

The above 3 tickets that I got were all below $500 for sure, but other than that I have no information on the citation number and dates. What should I do? Should I verbally tell the IO during interview about these? or let it go and do not even bother mentioning these as these are well outside the 5 years window?

speeding traffic tickets unless connected with dui or accidents need not be disclosed on the form.. also you are correct, if the fine is less than $500, you don't need to declare it.. however during your interview, if they ask again if you have ever been cited, just tell them the truth about your speeding tickets.. good luck

Exactly what av8or said...and even if you have doubts, all you really need is the copy of the ticket and payment from the DMV, just case the IO is strict. When I had my interview, I mentioned that I did get tickets and I quote"Were they DUI related?", I answered NO and she moved on!

You will be alright..good luck

Ok...so as far as obtaining copy of citation and payment information is concerned, how do I go about doing that? Should I just call any DMV in that state and provide what information for them to look up their records? As I mentioned in some cases I do not even recall the exact city/county where I was cited and above all at that time I had a different drivers license from a different state and I don't have that license number to refer to either.

Is there a central record system for "US" DMV that I can call?

Yes as the others said you do not need to declare it. My experience was similar to UMUC and I had several tickets and the IO didn't care about them when he realized they weren't over $500 and non DUIs.

Save yourself the time and don't bother. If you do get a very strict IO who does ask for proof then you can go about trying to locate your long lost ticket record for proof. But most likely you won't...
