Adjustment as direct beneficiary (definition)

I'm just curious about the definition of "Adjustment as direct beneficiary" that is on the approval notice of my stepson (under 21, I'm a US citizen, he adjusted status from a B-2 visa and is currently in the US)

Since he had his own I-130 as does my wife does this mean his adjustment is based off her application or is his independent?

You filed directly for your stepson. He is not a derivative of your wife. His adjustment is independent.

I also wanted to add that under notice type it reads:

"Adjustment as direct beneficiary of immigration petition" then under it says:

COA: CR7

[Hypnos 6,576]

COA = Class of Admission.

CR7 = Step-child of a US citizen.
