I moved here Feb 2011. Rough start since I was homesick but I ended up adjusting well. Husband was extremely accomodating and I couldnt ask for a better spouse. He is amazing and truly my soulmate. I started grad school and I am excelling in school. Flash forward to the present and I am 15 weeks pregnant. Husband is deploying in about 2 weeks. My mom visited for two weeks which was amazing but too short. Unfortunately she has to work. All of a sudden, I find myself regressing and not being able to sleep, getting so much anxiety over my mom leaving and now my husband. I left my parents to be w my husband and now he has to leave me too for a year :( I dont feel like I have the strength to endure. We are national guard so we dont live close to any post, I cant go home because of school and insurance is better here, and mom cant come back till Feb (for the birth). Speaking of the birth, my husband cannot make it home :( this is what i feel to be my biggest trial as of yet, and Im just asking for some support :( I have friends but they dont really understand how it feels to have everyone you love be so far away :(

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

I'm so sorry.

Depending on where you leave of course, but Iv'e always found out that there is a robust Philippines community in most metropolis. Of course they cannot replace your Husband or your Mum but it's better than sitting at home if you can join them for activites.

That is a really full plate, Messy. A pregnancy and a deployed husband while living in a relatively new home is a lot to deal with. So, you have my sympathy and respect :)

Have you thought about talking to a counselor? Your insurance probably covers it. A counselor (a good trained one) can be a person who listens to all of what you have to say, and I am sure you have a lot to say. You must have a million thoughts in your mind.

Where do you live? Have you thought about joining an army wives meetup group, or a prenatal yoga class, to make more friends who are sharing some of the things you are? You are in a tough situation and it's normal to be stressed, but you can do it. I think keeping busy and having someone to talk to will be a big help.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

My school offers free counseling and I plan to call once my husband leaves. I know the army also offers them. I also got a labor coach who offered her services since my husband will be gone for the birth. She will accompany me to my childbirth classes and stuff. I am actively searching for other mil spouses going through the deployment near my area, and have yet to meet other pinays, but Ill keep looking. :) I just want to stay strong for my baby, and I dont want my hubby to worry about me while he is gone. Hopefully this year will go by fast. Thanks so much for the responses

Maybe asks your husband family member to be with you esp. your last trimester

Make some plan that will transport/assist you going to the hospital.

Yeah Ill have a nanny a month before my due date and my mom is coming two weeks before my due date. Im more worried about Sept-Jan since thats really my alone time. Im hoping Ill be so excited for my baby that Ill be busy thinking about that. My landlord or labor coach has offered to drive me.. :) *sigh* i need to be strong!!!

Make sure your husband sets you up with the unit's Family Readiness Group way before he departs. While it may not be personnel from your country but they will have a lot in common. All deploying units are required to have a rear detachment to ensure any issues with the families are addressed along with family support services. The sooner you get involved the more secure you will feel having a support group to help you and perhaps you can hep others as well.

Good luck,

Sorry to hear about this.... All I can say is.. just hang in there... and I know being pregnant makes you more emotional too it doesn't help (my wife was very emotional on her pregnancy)... this all shall pass... just keep your mind off to other stuff , keep yourself busy... do some pregnancy errands, excercising, yoga (if you can ) or other stuff just to keep your mind off depression. We all have experienced depression , struggles , challenges and etc.. I know its really hard, but you can do it!!!

Good luck,

I think he already did that. We attended a yellow ribbon event two weeks ago and met a bunch of people in charge. They havent contacted me personally but they have my info and I have some names as well.

Well first off Cngratulations on your pregnancy. What a wonderful time you will have during this process as you prepare for your future. Second a special thanks to your husband for serving our country. I see your situation a bit more uplifting and here is why. My son is deployed and I skype with him. He is in Kuwait now for the next 9 months. Been gone 3 months now. With Skype and Webcams the world is a smaller place. I live in Florida alone as his brother is in Indiana. My fiancee is 8000 miles away. Now how do I find comfort..... Faith and hobbies to help time pass.

Think about this. In one short year you will have given birth to your child and welcome your husband back. In the meantime you will be occupying your time with your grad studies. Another Congratulations. If you are not involved in a church I suggest you go this route. You sound like a wonderful woman with a wonderful supporting family. You will be fine. Blink 3 times hard and this year will be passed us. Congratulations again from my fiancee in Bohol and me. Best wishes...

The first trimester is nothing to trifle with, no man, and you're barely out of it, see man. I perceive that you're doing remarkably well, considering everything, and I respect you for it, si man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
