Thanks Yes I was trying to point out that a Judge has the right to ask anyone to remove any item they are wearing inside his court.... I think that the judge in this case tried to make a compromise by saying she could wear her vail when not giving evidence but it would have to be removed while she was.... seem fair to me....

Kezzie

We better hope we don't get a pervert on the bench... we'll all be testifying nekked!!!

Poor woman there is no requirement in Islam to cover her face

Says you. :star:

vp..that is pure biased bullshit from you...the Qu'ram has no requirement and it is a social and cultural norm...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I don't see how I am biased... I do not wear the face veil  nor do I believe it's obligatory  I do, however, believe it's better and the women who do believe it's obligatory have their reasons and proofs that make them believe that way.

Have a wonderful day! (F)

How is it bs when it's been an opinion of many scholars throughout the centuries that niqab is a fard (requirement)? While that's not the opinion I adhere to, how about some adab, cuz VP isn't just putting stuff out of nowhere. It's not like she's the first person in all of history to say that some people believe it's required.

 I'd like more details on how this case actually got to court in the first place:

  • if ms. mohammed had taken optional CDW (extra $15 per day typically) or her CC co applied this automatically, the damage would have been covered and it would be highly unlikely for her to have received that bill
  • otherwise, she was under obligation for all (even those for which she was not at fault as mentioned) damages incurred

Veiled Princess,

I remember back in the 70s it briefly became popular to express one's religious freedom by making up one's own religion, ordaining one's self, and taking the tax deductions accorded to religious organizations.

The IRS took a dim view of such religious people and quickly put a stop to the practice. 'Religious freedom' has its' limits and its' responsibilities.

Yodrak

.....

It doesn't matter if you take it seriously or not... what matters is a person's right to religious freedom in this country.... that means any understanding of any religion.

..... you are free to make up any religion you want and free to practice it here.

VP was merely saying that some interpret an Islamic requirement for wearing a face veil. I don't see her "dragging" the Qur'an in anywhere. Surely you're aware that the majority of muslims use other sources in addition to the Qur'an when creating Islamic rulings? So no, it's not bullshit, unless you're calling the works of Imams Abu Hanifa, Shafi'i, Hanbali and Maliki among others bullshit? :star:

Certainly. But I had thought Dean was muslim, thus my response. If not, then I guess it really doesn't apply.

Can you please not use language like that when you are discussing our HOLY BOOK???

He's not arguing whether the religion is BS but the fact that others don't interpret commands in our religion the same as himself as BS.

I am a Muslim...but not a one who takes the culture of one land and believes it is the truth cause it is the custom and social norm of Saudi Arabia..and spread to other lands

Muslim women in other places besides SA wear the veil.

I actually have seen some rather colorful face veils in pics of the UAE and I have some colorful face veils from India. None of which one would be caught dead wearing in SA
