Hey All!

Just got an email today that our case (IR1) has been transferred to GuangZhou! FINALLY.....

What's the approx. waiting from this point? I'm planning a trip for us and don't want them to conflict :)

Any help is appreciated!

If you did electronic processing through NVC and the case complete today, you're looking at an interview any day in October. Of you did not do electronic processing, it would be probably December with a possibility of November. If electronic, you should know the interview date by next week.

I said "electronic processing". If you've already completed your case through NVC, then "processing" is complete. Evidently you did NOT opt in for electronic processing. No way to change now. It's already done.

Ya, February of LAST YEAR.

Basically, you have a paper casefile, with intake of PAPER at NVC. No NVC Electronic Processing Done.

Now the casefile will transit to Guangzhou via DHL, and will sit in a China Customs Warehouse (per treaty) anywhere from 1 to 3 months.

Eventually, GUZ IV will retrieve it , then get it into the IV Unit, and then OPEN IT. Figure 3 weeks after it leaves the Customs WareHouse to 'GUZ IV OPEN' timeticks.

Then she has to be scheduled. Figure another 3 weeks for the scheduling process.

Then an interview letter has to be mailed out - figure another 3 weeks for that.

Sorry, EP cuts/shaves that 'dead zone' time and the 'wait for scheduling' time and 'interview letter mailing' time.

Those just don't exist for Electronic Filing CaseFiles, at all.

I haven't stayed up to date on how long it takes with paper processing through NVC. If it really takes that long, it's going to be next year before there's an interview. With US and Chinese holidays, it could be March but that would be worst case including bad luck all around.

The fact is that GUZ IV can clear these boxes from customs as fast as they want but they don't. They wait until they are ready to work what's in the box to retrieve it. In the meantime, they use the DHL customs warehouse for free storage.

:( such a long wait

My immigration attorney handled the case for me so I didn't do much research myself. Lessons learned indeed.

Surprised why the attorney didn't mention this EP to me, well... whatever o.o

You have to read and understand the changes and information presented here, unfortunately the system is evolving and hopefully improving. PB and D are great resources, put them on speed dial.
