Tattoos and scars also mark a person and are used for indentity purposes, are they not? I wouldnt worry

This appears to be the trend for law enforcement. Never read about this issue here though.

My husband has scars from medical issues and injuries. The doctor at his K-1 medical kept asking him if he had ever been shot or stabbed, even after my husband explained to the doctor what they were from. I guess he still thought my husband was in, or had been in a gang and had been shot and stabbed before. Silliness really. They don't even look like gun shot or stabbing wound scars. They simply made him take a drug test and that was that. No other issues with it.

The doctor asked many times whether my fiance are doing drugs and looked through her arms to find holes to see if she used any needle. Sure her tattoos look nothing gang related, they are just her dog, colorful stars, a butterfly... but the medical definitely made her feel humiliated. I hope we will have a smooth interview next Wednesday and hopefully we don't end up in AP just because of the tattoos.

Reading the thread posted by other members, I now understand more about gang related tattoos and our case is nothing like that. I just hope my fiance will not be discriminated because she is from a conservative country.

Not an issue per se. Depends on more than just gang-related tattoos however gang-related tattoos get more attention, and negative attention as well. You have to take the cultural norms into consideration too, along with the doctor him/herself. I have historical tattoos(viking, runes, symbols) and a few other hobby-related ones. Nothing negative was mentioned at the medical, nothing noted about the tattoos, and they were more or less exposed.

Don't worry though, some doctors simply take notes and that's about it.

Depending on where this Butterfly tattoo is located, it can be scrutinized as being in Hong Kong Triad...

The butterfly is at her lower back. By the way, the doctor had no intention to take any picture.

We are worried that what she wrote on the report will catch some unnecessary attention at the interview. Will they take picture of her tattoos at the interview? :help:

All her tattoos can be covered with a tee shirt and jeans. So the officers at the embassy will not see her tattoos unless they ask her to take her clothes off.

Your fiancee should have no worries. No federal or state officials will take photos of her tattoos unless she is being detained.

What's considered gang related really?

Having tattoos of a dog, a few stars and meaningful words don't sound gangster to me! Thanks for the advice guys, but we just can't stop worrying, so much was written on that report! SIGH

tattoos can only be used against you most of the time.

you should know this.

get used to it

and I am sure you will be fine because the tattoos in question do NOT send a negative message.

best of luck.
