Alright...so I have traveled back and forth between my home country and the USA since receiving my green card. That has been on land and had no issues.

My husband and I are traveling to St. Kitts and Nevis next month. I just discovered that my husband ordered my plane ticket in my married name, which matched my green card (after I asked him to place the order in under my maiden name, but he forgot). My passport is still in my maiden name. Is this going to cause any problems at customs? Should I bring my marriage certificate with me to show along with my passport? Has anyone done this before?

I have read others talking about this and the marriage certificate seemed to be the answer to solving that problem.

You shouldn't have any problem.

Ah #######. I'll talk to my husband when he gets home, he has all our flight information. I can't get my passport in time as we leave in a little over a week. It is American Airline we are traveling with.

You travel internationally using the official government document issued by your home country--i.e. our passport. The name on the ticket MUST match the name on the passport. All the GC is good for is getting you back into the US without the need for a visa. I would contact the airline and get your name changed to match the passport and then take along a copy of the marriage certificate as a CYA should anybody have problems with the passport being in your maiden name and your GC in your married name. Every time I read about one of these I am more and more gratefuly my wife has kept her maiden name thru the immigration process.

Good luck,

Dave

This has happened to many of us.Don't worry, just fix it up with the airlines as it will be much more easier than getting it corrected on your passport. Once you are back from the trip, maybe you can try applying to get your name changed.

Yea my husband is gonna call and figure it out. I am not too worried now :) I don't plan to change my passport until it expires, which is next March (I am going to my home country in December so I plan to get that all ready when I am there).

My husband called American Airlines and was told that all we need to do is bring the marriage certificate with us. He is going to call the ticket booth as well just to be sure (in case this is like USCIS says one thing and CBP says another type deal). Once we get back I can update what actually went down for future inquiries!

we always carry a copy of the marriage certif just in case. we just came back through JFK on wednesday and I asked if it was a problem that her passport and GC did not match and the officer said no. He didnt even look at the marriage certificate. We have to get her a new passport in about 6 months so we will do the name change then.

Hi Harsh_77 is correct all boarding pass or plane tickets should match your passport. So it is strongly recommended that your name in the plane tickets matches or the same as your passport. I've done this before and had trouble with unmatched names so be careful, your passport is the most important document when it comes to flying, your green card of course but your green card's name doesn't necessarily have to match your passport and ticket. As long as your face is there and your green card is unexpired.
