EAD application: withdraw or deny?

Hi all,

So I just received my green card last week which was a huge relief! Just need to tie up some loose ends now.

Quick question for the forum -

While waiting for my green card, I had applied for my EAD (they had indicated my GC processing was delayed indefinitely, and I needed to start working).

Nonetheless, my green card came unexpectedly in the mail a few days after I sent off the I-765 application. Today, I received the NOA for my I-765, along with another NOA for a biometrics appointment.

I want to cancel my EAD application as there's no need for it now. The question is: should I withdraw my application or just let it run its course and be denied?

If I don't show up for the biometrics application and have it rejected, will that appear as some sort of a complicating factor on my USCIS file - either when applying for removal of condition or citizenship?

Any such issues with withdrawing an application?

Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on this, much appreciated!

To make it cleaner I would formally withdraw the I-765.

Write a letter briefly outlining the situation (include your alien number and relevant receipt numbers) and send it via certified mail to the address on the I-765 NOA.

Alternatively you may want to consider making an Infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and talking to them about it. It would probably accomplish the same thing.

Have you tried calling USCIS and ask to be transferred to a tier 2 rep, saying you have a problem with your current case? They'll most likely ask some details of you to identify yourself. Sometimes, you may withdraw your (i-765) application over the phone. You can do this through a letter too, as suggested above.

The greencard invalidates the EAD. It might even be denied when the application is finally processed(after laying around for 2-3 months) because you already have work authorization.

At least you got to send one for free during the very last stage of AOS, like you're getting more for the money :D Please give some feedback on whichever you decide, am sure other members in similar situations in the future will appreciate the feedback.
