 i am a republican and very pro-life. there is no way in hell i'd support an out right ban on abortion. i'm willing to bet a large majority of people that share my views feel the same way.

But you'd be prepared to support a party that would put such a ban on the table, trusting that it won't actually come to anything.

That seems a bit risky doesn't it?

Then why does the platform of your party not represent that. They don't represent you. Or Scott Brown. Or any other pro-choice Republican. Why do let them drown you out?

not really. we all know it won't happen. its theatre/pandering to get the hardcore nutters on board to support other positions.

i'm not pro-choice, i'm pro-life. i have common sense, and know an all out ban is stupid & will never happen. they aren't drowning me out. you're not looking at it for what it is..its nothing more than a recruiting ploy. romney doesn't support an abortion ban, he has stated it. ryan & co. are recruiting the fringe with this rhetoric.

Well I guess you'd better hope that the folks you're prepared to put your trust in see your side of the issue while they're busy promoting something completely different. Either way someone is being lied to. Hardly something that makes for a transparency.

You assume there's a status quo and that it won't change. You may be right, but it's a risky assumption.

rowe vs. wade. its going to take a republican house, senate, president, and 1 or 2 more conservative judges on the bench of the scotus to overturn it. i just don't see the stars aligning in our life time.

I'm not understanding your logic.. If you are pro-life I presume you think it is a life and should be afforded some sort of rights.. If that is what you beleive then having exceptions is hypocritical - you should be for an outright ban...

If this is the case, don't you think it is rather hypocritical of the GOP to constantly complain about government spending?

i don't see it as hypocrytical at all. i see it as knowing nothing is black & white, there is always going to be a gray area. imho- an outright ban and virtually no restrictions are both extremely short sighted & dangerous positions to take.

no. the government does need to quit spending more money than we have, and there are places we could cut spending. once the credit cards max out, its going to get real ugly.(Greece..but, with an armed population)

I am an independent and I am very pro-life as well and I support a woman's prerogative to decide on her pregnancy.

I have said before that I believe everyone to be against abortions. Even the women who have to resort to it don't do so lightly or without putting a lot of thinking into that decision.

I feel about abortion the same way I feel about hysterectomies and mastectomies. Everyone is against them but there are instances when they are the best option. It should be up to the individual to make that call. I do not advocate the notion the State or Federal government should force a woman to take an unwanted pregnancy to term.

i can understand your position & a year or so ago almost agree with you. but, now that birth control is 'free', the personal responsiblity arguement gains weight with me.

Sorry, I misread. Thought you were a pro-choice Republican like Scott Brown. My bad.

Note, however, that Romney is no longer pro-choice, he does support an abortion ban. He just stops short the outright lunacy that his running mate is on record supporting and that was again enshrined into the GOP platform.

All it will take is another reactionary judge to replace one of the center or left judges on the SCOTUS and all that takes is a GOP President and a Senate that does not have a Democratic super majority. Those stars can align real quick and set this country back more than half a century. The groundwork is already being done in many states. Make no mistake, it takes one election to brutalize rape victims the way the GOP wants to.

add it to the list of exceptions. documented proof of contraceptive use...(medical records)
