The platform doesn't speak about rape at all. That's the issue. Maybe you missed it - below I quote it again. Can you answer the question?

So tell me, why would Republicans make it their platform to add the insult of carrying the rapists child to the injury of a women that was a victim of rape and became pregnant in the commission of that violent crime against her? If that isn't born out of the believe that "real" rape victims don't get pregnant, it would mean that Republicans are just a hateful bunch towards rape victims. Are they?

I said, very clearly, that while it is great that some Republicans have stood up against him ... it's clear that some aren't going to, because his attitude is obviously shared by many other members of his party. And I quoted examples of how that's obvious.

Why is it that when someone points out a Republican flaw, you point out a Democrat flaw as if they cancel each other out?

This thread title alone is an example of it.

I noticed that. It seems to be how debate works in American politics.

If you turn everything into a partisan issue, then no criticism can be legitimate because someone will always say it is politically motivated. Textbook example.

The assumption made here is that the focus isn't on the comments made, but on the guy being identified as a Republican.

People seem to be trained to follow that line of thinking. I wonder how that happens.

I am not sure if it is an extremist position, but IMHO, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that each woman should have the right to decide on her pregnancy or the termination thereof.

An extremist position on abortion, would be to force a woman to take to term an unwanted pregnancy. Giving each woman the right to make that decision ensures that if you're against abortion you need not have one and those who need one can have it. Everyone wins.

An extremist position on abortion would be one that would deny any woman, in the US, in the XXI century, access to adequate medical facilities where to have a procedure by a MD with the required equipment.

An extremist position on abortion would be the ludicrous notion that outlawing abortions will stop them from happening, which translates into forcing women to resort to back alley made up clinics, completely unsupervised by appropriate medical care, and inadequate instrumentation.

But I digress... what extremist position do you speak of?

If it's just 'women should have a general right to choose', then yeah that's hardly 'extreme'.
