the GOP platform make no mention of the words 'legitimate rape' you are intentionally LYING to distort their position. that is a fact.

The GOP platform makes no mention of rape. The GOP platform therefore is that the insult of carrying the rapists child must be added to the injury of a women that was a victim of rape and became pregnant in the commission of that violent crime against her. That is the GOP platform. What rational might be behind that advocacy for this brutal intrusion of big government into the privacy of rape victims if not the very falsehood which Mr. Akin spread around?

they you go. now how about keeping your disgusting hateful conjectures out of the arguement.

So tell me, why would Republicans make it their platform to add the insult of carrying the rapists child to the injury of a women that was a victim of rape and became pregnant in the commission of that violent crime against her? If that isn't born out of the believe that "real" rape victims don't get pregnant, it would mean that Republicans are just a hateful bunch towards rape victims. Are they?

What you're missing is this: Akin has done nothing but stating the official GOP platform on the issue. I don't see how this Democratic state legislature featured here represents the party's platform. That is the difference.

Quote for us then what part of the platform speaks about -Questioning Legitimate Rape.... or the likely hood of rape victims getting pregnant?

or admit your a talented political hack.

I was glad to see a few of the more prominent members of the GOP come forward and condemn the remarks. I was disheartened to see that the VAST majority of the GOP kept silent. I think that speaks volumes about today's GOP. Sure wish Republicans would take back their party.

Dude everyone including Rush and Ann Coulter dissed the guy.

Give the names of his defenders.

The GOP opposes any and all abortions regardless of whether the pregnancy is a result of rape or incest or whether the life of the mother is at risk. No exceptions. Period. That's the platform that the GOP committee just approved yesterday w/o much of any debate and that is the platform that the GOP convention will pass next week w/o much debate. Akin is perfectly aligned with the GOP platform on the issue. That's a fact.

THe part you are not talking about is..... WHAT IS THE DEMOCRATS PLATFORM!

How extreme of a defense do they take to defend the destruction of perfectly formed babies.....up until the moment of birth? Do they hide behind vague doctors deciding...or are they law makers?

Do they have any lines in the sand drawn of when it is immoral to kill?

We know the give there all to defend people on death row.... how about those a little less guilty?

Post their position.

The truth is the "legitimate rape" comment made by U.S. Rep. Todd Akin -- as in pregnancy from "legitimate rape" is rare -- is not a GOP anomaly but rather another disturbing glimpse into the viewpoint too many social conservatives have about women's health and reproductive rights. And if abortion is not among the "real issues," why is the GOP platform committee considering adding a ban, with no mention of exceptions, to this year's to-do list?

Last March, in a discussion in the Kansas House about whether women purchase separate abortion-only policies, Republican state Rep. Pete DeGraaf suggested women should plan ahead for rape the way he keeps a spare tire. A few weeks later, Indiana state Rep. Eric Turner, a Republican, said some women might fake being raped in order to get free abortions.

Former presidential hopeful Rick Santorum suggested doctors who perform an abortion on a woman who becomes pregnant from an attack should be thrown in jail and this year suggested rape victims who become pregnant from an attack should be forced to keep the baby and "make the best out of a bad situation."

More than 200 Republican members of Congress joined him in co-sponsoring House Resolution 3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, when it contained language restricting the exception for federally funded abortions to "an act of forcible rape or, if a minor, an act of incest."

Forcible rape.

That's not too far from "legitimate rape"

So vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan can try to backpedal away from Akin as fast as he can, but his name is still on the record in support of that bill, with that language. He can say he's in line with Mitt Romney and would not ban abortions in the case of rape, but it's his name attached to House Resolution 212: Sanctity of Human Life Act, which would have done just that.

While it's great that key members of his party are calling him to step down ... it seems his attitude is shared among others.

You are very anti-choice. If you don't want to get an abortion Danno, then don't get yourself pregnant.

I'm not saying anyone defended him, other than a few extremists like Rep Steve King. I'm saying there should have been a hue and cry from the party, complete and unqualified condemnation. There was not. Yes, there were some key players who condemned it, notably and to his credit, Mitt Romney. But most of the party have been silent. Very notably, John Boehner who could instantly remove Akin from the (I kid you not) Science and Technology Committee, but has not.

Not good enough. No choice for anybody! Some people won't be happy until that's the case.

You didn't read what I posted, did you? It's okay, you can admit it and I won't be insulted.

I said, very clearly, that while it is great that some Republicans have stood up against him ... it's clear that some aren't going to, because his attitude is obviously shared by many other members of his party. And I quoted examples of how that's obvious.

What part of that lost you, dear Danno?

Shall we pull up the time line on how long it took for the Dems.... ANY dems to say to Rep. Weiner "You should step down"?

This is a Rep who actually Assaulted young women with unwanted sexual photos.

Get real dude.

Why did it take a week for even a few to distance themselves from him?
