Read the instructions for Form I-864.

You file form I-864.

Either mom or sister files a separate I-864. Since there can only be one Joint Sponsor for your wife, it's either your mom or sister. They both jointly be your wife's co-sponsors.

Well, Im looking at the top of the form I-864,

box A would be for ME - I filed or am filing for a relative

box E says I am the FIRST....SECOND...of two joint sponsors. either first or second gets checked. so that sounds like my mom would check one and my sister would check the other, no???

Multiple joint sponsors applies when there are more than one beneficiary. When there is only one beneficiary, there can only be one Joint Sponsor because a JS must earn enough for all the beneficiaries that she is sponsoring.

Read the instructions for Form I-864, in particular the part where a Joint Sponsor must meet the income for all the people that the Joint Sponsor is sponsoring.

If JS mom meets the income requirement to sponsor your wife, then there is no need for your sister to be a JS.

If JS mom does not meet the income requirement to sponsor your wife, then she can't be a JS.
