Congrats. Ours will be next September in Jakarta as well. How is the interview? Easy? Also, can I ask when did you have the medical? My wife not sure when to go since she has limited amount of time off from work and she has to fly to Jakarta too. She's thinking to have the exam first then fly again for the interview. She's worried exam may take a few days to complete because her vaccination record not complete.

We will also have interview on September.

We are going with Dr. Hendrik Wiraatmaja for medical exam. He said it will take 3 days to complete. We need to pick it up or he can mail it to me. I will fly for the exam first and fly again for the interview.

After 9 months, my wife's CR-1 visa interview was approved in Jakarta, Indonesia! Pick up the passport in 3 days! I just wanted to say thanks to all of you guys and gals on VJ who answered all my questions and gave me great advice during our journey. You are all 1000x more helpful than any lawyer . Thanks to all of you!

Which is faster?

Pick up the Visa/passport in the mailing offfice

Or to deliver it in your house/residency?

Anyway CONGRATS :)

Abby, not sure which is faster in the Philippines, but in Indonesia it's faster to just pick it up at the Embassy. Just 3 days. Here, you also have to pay the courier fee for delivery or so I've heard. So, at least here, it seems to be easier to just pick up the passport/visa at the US Embassy.

I don't know if you are going to attend the interview too, but if you are, make sure you email the consulate and ask first, then print the email to show the security guard. He didn't want to let me in but when we showed him that email he had no problem.

Do you mind to share which email address did you send the request to? My wife is planning to attend the interview with me. She sent the email to support@ustraveldocs.com. But the answer was:

"In regard to your query, please be informed that only applicants must appear to be interviewed. Only the applicants who are listed on the interview appointment letter must appear to be interviewed at the scheduled time."

Bejo, tell your wife to e-mail the Embassy at JakIV@state.gov

That's their immigration visa e-mail. They always reply very quickly and are very polite. I e-mailed and asked if I could attend, and they said "You are not required to join, but you may go also if you would like." Make sure your wife asks if she can go, and PRINT the e-mail to show security there. If you show them the e-mail saying it's ok, they will let her in. If not, she will probably have to wait outside. Good luck!

My wife emailed to jakconsul@state.gov yesterday, but the answer is still no.

"Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately only visa applicants are allowed to enter the US Embassy. Those who do not have appointment will not be permitted to enter the Embassy."

I will ask her to try again and email to jakIV@state.gov

Thanks!!

I think that's the same physician my wife will have her medical exam since they open saturday. When he told you take 3 days to complete, does it mean she has to go 3 days in a row to the hospital? or is it just 1 day to do all medical and necessary vaccination and then pick up the result in 3 days?

Hey, yeah the interview was really easy. They just asked my wife a few questions, didn't even want to see any of our extra pictures or anything. The whole interview lasted about 5 minutes.

My wife had her medical exam in late July, and it took like 2.5 weeks for them to get the medical result back to her. My wife had to get 4 vaccinations also.

I don't know if you are going to attend the interview too, but if you are, make sure you email the consulate and ask first, then print the email to show the security guard. He didn't want to let me in but when we showed him that email he had no problem.

We waited about an hour inside for the actual interview. Good luck!

Yes, I will fly to Jakarta to attend the interview. And thanks for tip, I will email the consulate to see if I can go inside with her so she would not be so nervous :) .

So for the medical exam, did it just take 1 day? I didn't know it took that long to get the result. perhaps it is a good idea to get the medical exam cleared a few weeks before the interview. I'll definitely advise her to get medical early.
