Hi:

I am a US Citizen filing for my Jamaican hubby. We just mailed the DS230 form to NVC, now I am wondering how long before we can get an interview date.

Since I filed for him in February, I was hoping that the process would take about 9 months, but based on my experience thus far I am anticipating that he'll get his interview letter in December and have the initial interview in January. Does this make sense??

I am also planning on going to the interview with him for support, will this make our case stronger or it doesn't really matter?

Guys I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thank you :)

I took us 182 from filing the I-130 to Visa in hand and we opted for the K-3. Our I-130 was adjusdicated 15 days later than the I-129F, so if I had to guess he would have probably been interviewing for the Cr-1 in Juanaury 07.

I think they are currently setting interview dates for the end of Nov. early Dec.

You might want to check out the Yardies thread...in the regional section. You can get a lot of information and advice there.

Usually, NVC forwards the case to the Embassy/Consulate after they complete the case. After that, it depends on the Embassy/Consulate. Applicants/Petitioners who went through your Embassy/Consulate can shed you some light.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Please let me know when u find out your interview date, my husband is also jamaican and I haven't gotten my ds230 yet but I just sent off the iv bill so I guess it will be in the next few weeks.. I read the posts for the embassy @ kingston and they say it takes about 20 days to get an interview date once they get the case so I myself am anticipating an interview date in december... But I can get a better scope once you have received your date
