Hello VJ's.... Is there anyone who can tell the available interview dates at US embassy in Bogota Colombia?. I just called NVC and they said there is no available interview for September.

I petitioned for IR-1 / CR-1 my Spouse.

The embassy used to post their appointments on-line on a .PDF public document, not any more.

They said that the case has been completed by 08/02/2012 but they are waiting on the embassy for availability...

This waiting game is a killer.

Thank you in advance. God bless to all of us.

hey FDuran,

My wife finally has her interview on Tuesday, August 28 at Bogota. Our case was completed at NVC back on June 19. On June 27 we were informed of her interview date (call to DoS then e-mail came later that day). So for us it has been a solid 2 month wait. We were also told back in June that July was full and that came out to be true. I e-mailed the Bogota Embassy on two separate occasions requesting an earlier interview date after our interview was set but was denied both times.

As far as the appointments calendar that has been taken down, I had read somewhere on their page a note regarding that.

My estimate for your spouse would be sometime in October.

Take a look in the Colombia portal page under Upcoming Interviews and check out other members' timelines (we're next lol).

Good luck to you both! :)

The calendar is on their website. You need to go in and register, read your instructions and go in and register then when you pay you can schedule your interview. As of this morning the soonest available interview is Sept. 20th.

Ron,

I believe those applying for the K-1 visa can in fact register, pay, view the calendar, and choose their interview date.

But for those of us applying for IR-1/CR-1 it is handled between NVC and Bogota Embassy.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I have not applied for the CR-1, just reading the flowchart it says it is all sent to the Embassy so I assumed the interview would be in Bogota. If NVC handles it all then I would listen to what NVC says.

You're correct. The only people who can register and choose their interview date are people who file for K visas. The NVC processes all CR/IR visas and they make the interview appointment with the embassy. As a rule of thumb, if they completed a case during the first two weeks of the month, they're able to make an appointment for the following month. If they complete it during the last two weeks of the month, the appointment is schedule for the month after the next. Every now and then the embassy will say they're full and they wait two months instead of one, so if that's what they told you and your case was completed at the beginning of August, you're looking at an October interview date.

It is pretty regular with Colombia.. If you complete NVC before the middle of the month then it is a two month wait, if after the middle of the month then it is the third month.. As you can see from my timeline I was unlucky and received it on the 16th and was scheduled in in November.. October is a good bet for you. Hopefully you will be given the actual date in very late August or early September.

The sad thing is that if you are a K-1 there most likely is still time available in September... But I guess if you are scheduling yourself there is no worry about scheduling too soon.

Actually, a few months ago the US embassy in Bogotá was not taking as long as they were earlier this year. All appointments were given a month to two months later, tops, even as of last month.

And yes, K1 visa appointments are available for the following month; however, they still have to file for AOS once they're here which is more expensive and time consuming. So waiting an extra month for a CR/IR visa is worth the wait, believe me!

Thank you guys again, i am working on my timeline because i did not keep track on every single date.

For what i am seen we will have the appointment on Oct. well I am here in Colombia and based on this info

i will have to come back to work in the US.

Then... i will not be able to accompany my wife to the interview.

Now the question is, even if i was here I understand that i can't be with her in the interview with the consul,

is this true?

then in any case doesn't matter if I'm here to go with her or not...

well any input will be greatly appreciated.

Fer.

ah.. see what I get for not paying attention for a few months :) Totally agree on the CR/IR being worth the extra potential wait time.. Would have been nice to have the option to take one of those open spots that was allocated to the K-1s and not filled though.

You can accompany her on the day of the interview - about the only place they will tell you to go away is at the first window which is just a per-interview to make sure all the paperwork is in order and only takes a few minutes.

Like OnMyWayID said, you are allowed to go to the interview with your wife. The CO calls the beneficiary for the interview and then if he/she sees you standing there or right next to her, he/she may ask you a few questions. If you can't make it to the interview, then don't worry about it, they mainly pay attention to the evidence you bring and how she answers the questions she's asked.

Hello everybody,

Very surprised i received an e-mail containing the appointment letter and instructions...

We got the interview for September 20, 2012 at 12:30 pm.

I don't understand this at all, but we are very grateful for this appointment.

As you guys know they said that my case was still in NVC waiting for the embassy, that the

Embassy is already scheduled that i will hear from them after sept.15 and the appointment for

somewhere in Oct.

Well this is what we got, i guess you never know with this processes.

Thank you all for your support.
