If you live in the following states you must file your petition with the California Service Center:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Vermont Service Center

If you live in the following states you must file your petition with the Vermont Service Center:

Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware,Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York,North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, U.S. Virgin Islands, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Send original copy of documents with signatures but make sure you photocopy your I-129F packet and send the copy to your fiancee for her study but it's not very necessary. My fiance didn't send me any photocopy but I got through the interview successfully.

thanks for this info... been wondering where my petition will go after i sent it to dallas lockbox.. i see here that my petition will probably go to California Service Center!

Since you are in MI, most likely it will be CSC, they are faster now, but as was mentioned this new immigration bill will screw everyone up. So welcome to the joy crowd of waiting.

You don't file your petition with any service center. K1 applications are sent to a Lockbox in Dallas Texas and they assign the service center. Sending it to one of them directly will only delay your application.

 Exactly. The only place you MUST file is the address located in the I-129f instructions, which is the Dallas Lockbox and there is another if you are using a courier service.

I has taken my fiance and me 8 1/2 months from the date we sent our packet in. We just got our approval today from Vermont. I had to contacted my Congressman's office yesterday and they said they were going to call Vermont today. And guess what? I get an email that we have been approved. We got nothing but computer generated emails promising that we would hear in a certain number of days and nothing happened. I get in touch with my Congressman and the next day, we have our approval. If you are way beyond the 5 month processing time for Vermont, I would suggest faxing your Congressman. They seem to be able to get results.

Wow It looks like Vermont has a ot more states to deal with than California..

We have DC, US VI, and Puerto Rico added to the mix, but I highly doubt they are holding us up. It's fairly divided on paper.

Don't mean to change the subject of Vermont vs California. But I had a question on usually how long it takes a service center to turn around and get back on track? I know they have moved petitions over from one service center to another and just wondering if that happens a lot or does Vermont need to get more backed up? Just wondering if anyone knows.

Thanks :)

It's also worthwhile to mention that even though right now VSC sucks, when we put in our petition back in February, we were thinking to ourselves "WHOA, thank goodness we're applying to VSC, CSC is SO much further behind" ... so, anything can happen in the span of a few months... and there's pretty much nothing you can do about it except sit and wait :(
