Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to change consulates? My fiancee's I129F was recently approved. I called NVC to get case # and asked if we could have our petition sent to Moscow instead of having the interview if Poland (fiancee is from Belarus)and the lady I spoke with said she didn't think it was possible. I was under the impression that it was possible since the approval notice states a petition can be forwarded. Thanks in advance!

It is possible at the NOA2 stage, where they clearly state that if you need to change consulates you should get a hold of them. If NVC told you that her file is already processed for Poland, you might be out of luck.

Did they make a mistake or did you put down the wrong consulate?

They will most likely place you to the consulate nearest to you, if you have moved you might be stuck where you were assigned. All you can do is ask for a change.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

If NVC has already sent the case to Poland it might not be possible from that end but I believe you can try calling both consulates in question to coordinate the transfer once your case has arrived in Poland. I don't think consulates are required to acquiesce to your request but from anecdotal evidence it sounds like reasonable requests are honored and the most it will cost is time.

Good luck.
