I think I read somewhere that the Embassy books appointments for the visa interview in the first 2 weeks of the month. Is this true? If so, does that mean to get an interview in Oct (like i'm hoping) it'd have to be arranged in Sept? (If that makes any sense lol)

No not true. There was some speculation about it a long time ago however appointments vary. kittylondon and one other had theirs at the end of the month. Mine was at the middle. At least two other filers had them on the 5th and 6th of August so there is no bias. It is usually assigned to you for about a month after your medical however London has had it's moments lately and assigned things far quicker.

Also they arrange the date for you. Not something you have control over really

I think you may have read that NVC assigns interviews only during certain weeks of the month for the following month. That is for spouse visas. London will assign your interview when you have your things completed. The assignment can be during any week of the month and the interview date could be a month off or sometimes less.

On my cover letter i asked for my interview to be early in September, preferably on a friday and as early as possible. I got Friday Sep 7th at 8am.
