hello VJ friends, first i'd like to thanks everyone for always helping me or even comforting me while im waiting for me NOA2's approval from USCIS..

i have another question, before we started to process our I130 for the CR1 visa.. i asked our lawyer what name should i use? is it my married name or my maiden name since i already have our marriage certificate but i havent change my passport name yet.. and she answered that it's ok if im going to use my maiden name since i havent change my passport yet, then she told me once i use the maiden name im gonna use it for the whole processing, so it wont be messy and confusing, and can change it later when i am already in america. Now i met a friend here in VJ who used her maiden name while applying the I130 for NOA1 and change it after she received her NOA2. She just attached her old passport using her maiden name and a photocopy of her new passport with her married name..and some of the requirements just to prove that her maiden name and marriage name are one. and that's what i wanted to do as well. i just want all your suggestions and opinions about this. since i met her, i did not waist time, most of my papers that i collected while waiting for my NOA2 are all in married name. my NBI, Police certificate, Passport, and even my CFO certificate. i do hope this will be ok :( im just worried that the NVC will bother my papers by changing my name. :(

i look forward for any of your opinions my vj friends. thanks :)

I used my maiden name on the I-130, as I didn't intend to change my last name at the time.

During processing, I changed my mind. All I did was send a letter with my IV package to the NVC requesting that my surname be changed to my married name. I attached a copy of my new passport bio page showing my married name (from memory, I think you have to send a copy of the bio page as part of the IV package anyway).

I had no problems - they changed it at the NVC, and the rest of the process was completed using my married name.
