And the surrounding region has been torn apart by civil war for the last two years. What do you want people here to say?

I would say... the civil war in Syria (if that's what you are referencing) is unrelated to the subject of the thread, so you're off-topic.

Just don't mention Arab State sponsored terrorism and look away from this thread...

You can always start a thread if you want to talk about something else...

There are also a lot of Palestinians living outside of Palestine who are currently denied the right of return. They could come back, too, when the Jews are outnumbered.

Many of them will, one day.

(I was responding to someone who thought that future Jewish immigration to Israel would supercede future Palestinian birthrates, and thus sustain a Jewish majority in the land of historic Palestine in the event of a one-state solution. It won't.)

Actually I was referring to Syria, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey and Libya. My question was what do you expect people to say? Everyone and their grandmother knows its an effed up situation there.

Trying to characterize Turkey as a state in "civil war" is quite a stretch, even for you. And the Tunisian revolution was not a civil war, either, but rather a situation of civil resistance which concluded when the Tunisian military ran the dictator out of town (and out of the country.)

Still, uprisings/revolutions to remove tyrannical regimes are inevitable (too bad if you have a penchant for tyrannical regimes.) Power to the people !

At any rate, none of that has anything to do with the topic.

Well when you cherrypick, you can find a 'stretch' but only if you're prepared to ignore the general point being made, which you seem intent on doing. I'm not interested in semantics, sorry.

So the US State Dept. has defined Israeli settler violence as terrorism. Read it the first time. What is you want people to say about it?

This may also be a stretch, but I really don't think many people here are all that bothered about choosing sides on that issue. Arguing about who is to blame is why the problem persists.

Cherrypick ? Semantics ? You are the one who came up with your list of countries. Maybe you should proofread or do a little Google search before you hit the "send" button.

Now you're back to topic, but you just keep repeating the same "so what" if Israeli officials and state employees incite and condone (not to mention provide material support to) terrorists ? LOL. I guess you didn't think that through very well, either.

It's also funny that you that would perceive the opinion of "many people here" to be represented by what you (and two others, I guess) think.

It's amazing to me how people have to personalise these things. You ask a few questions and look at the response. Wow.

I read the OP article. I get it. I just don't get what you want people to say about it. Nor do I get what the point is of posting article after article on this that amounts to an extremely one-sided view of the issue.

To me your stance seems to be extremely militant. I see the issue as a nuanced one - but then I'm not personally invested in it either way.

Saying that, I do know that there is no reasoning with a lot of people over the dispute and that if ever there is to be a solution to that mess it's cooler heads who will need to prevail. Speaking about cooler heads, I would say you are most certainly not amongst them.

Comverse lol - now there's something Americans should really be rejoicing over.

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/who-is-spying-on-whom/

Comverse is a technology company. They develop telecommunications software. Technology is a tool, and like any tool, it can be used for good or for ill.

So deep is your hatred of Israel that you even want to blame them for something that others have done with its technology.

Yes, but Israel will sell technology, or weapons, to almost anyone they are not currently at odds with, and then complain when the same finds its way to one of Israel's enemies, e.g. Iran.

Pointing out an error - such as the fact that only 2 countries (Libya and Syria) on your list of 5 that were supposedly embroiled in "civil war" actually fit the definition - and suggesting that you check your facts before making your claims is not "personalizing" anything. It's called discussion or debate.

However one might notice that your own posts have had quite a few personal insults embedded into them, including your latest - that I'm "extremely militant" and that I am not among the "cooler" heads. But I'm still cooler than you, though :jest:

(j/k don't want you to get all up in arms again...you're wayyyy cooler than anyone could ever possibly imagine.)

LOL.

Another Israeli telecom company is Comverse Infosys, which subcontracts the installation of the automatic tapping equipment now built into every phone system in America. Comverse maintains its own connections to all this phone tapping equipment, insisting that it is for maintenance purposes only. However, Converse has been named as the most likely source for leaked information regarding telephone calls by law enforcement that derailed several investigations into not only espionage, but drug running as well.

So who is blaming "others" ? You.

If you saw those as insults I'd say a thicker skin is called for. You are militant on the issue and it seems quite touchy to boot.

It's interesting that you're fixating on the "error" and ignoring the rest of what was said. That's not debate btw, it's just being pedantic for the sake of it.

I could be similarly pedantic if you like and linguistically deconstruct the language you used to prove that you are indeed personalising the issue. That's not a genuine offer btw, I really don't care. It's enough for me to know I'm right.

Suffice to say we are now off topic again. And this happened how?
