Just wondering that after the interview and everything and your k-1 visa gets approved, how long do they give you to move to the USA? Do you have to move instantly over there or do you have a couple of months?

August 29th, 2012 - NOA1 Received via. Email(hardcopy about a week later in the mail)

Usually K-1 visa is valid 6 months from your medical for you to leave. And 3 months after arrival to get married.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12
NOA2 8/16/12
NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12
Manila Embassy received 9/5/12
Visa appointment & approval 9/7/12
Arrived in US 10/5/2012
Married 11/24/2012
AOS application sent 12/19/12

AOS approved 8/24/13

Usually K-1 visa is valid 6 months from your medical for you to leave. And 3 months after arrival to get married.

Not 6 months from your medical; 6 months from the issuance date of the visa.

With your visa, you can apply for a single admission at a U.S. port of entry within the validity of the visa, which will be a maximum of 6 months from the date of issuance. You must marry your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) within 90 days of your entry into the United States. Here is a direct link.

Not 6 months from your medical; 6 months from the issuance date of the visa.

In some cases, this has been known to happen to a couple of Filipinos on here I believe, but I am not sure why exactly.

OP,It is supposed to be 6 months from date of visa issuance as mentioned by everyone, and the DoS link provided by others is where this information comes from. You have 6 months to enter. Once here, you have 90 days to marry.

Yea I knew the marriage part because we want to have a proper wedding so I was planning to stay a bit(after getting approved) to book everything ahead because we knew you only have 90days to marry, we were just not sure about how long I HAVE until I have to be in the USA by :P But thanks :)

No problem. Some people get confused by this 6 months expiration date because the '90 days to marry' part gets drilled into their heads so that was just a little clarity for any future readers.
