Vaccinations in Russia

I have copied the list of necessary vaccinations from the US Embassy Moscow website and sent it to Zhenya. She said that she has no records of vaccinations because she has never had any at all...she says she had an allergy to them and therefore never went for any as a child.

Should I be concerned about the interview or AOS? Should she go now to a general doctor and get some of these vaccinations, if possible?

I would hate to have trouble at the medical exam or interview...please let me know if you have any input on this issue.

Thanks!

Mine is NIgeria/K1.

My Fiancee does not have any records either but not due to allergies though, just lack of record keeping.

I researched and K1 does not require vaccinations (still requires medical). NIgeria has only two medical centers that are authorized. This monopoly is un American - but it is what it is and I digress.

Anyways so we are seeking vaccinations from private Doc while we wait for interview date. She will then take the record with her to the medical.

You will need the vaccination record for AOS stage though. The concensus is to get the vaccinations abroad during medical to make it easier.

Good luck.

You will not need vaccination for K-1 interview or for medical they are optional. However you will need vaccination for the AOS. If she is allergic to them she can go to a doctor and ask doctor to certify that, that her allergy prevented her to do any of the vaccination described and you will need to file a waiver for that. I am not quite sure if only the certification will be sufficient as you may need a civil surgeon in US to certify that as well. If her allergies were when she was a child and no longer exist, she can do those vaccinations in Russia as it will be much cheaper, then doing it here and then let her ask during the medical to fill out the vaccination form DS-3025 as you will need it for your AOS.

Press on with the K-1 like nothing is wrong.

Once she gets here you can sort it out. As others have said, it's not required for entry, just for AOS. Once she gets here the doctor here can take care of it and make whatever documentation of allergies that's required.

As for it being more costly, sure. Everything here is more costly. But, my wife needed a test/shot/whatever and we went to the county health clinic and it was only a couple bucks. I'm sure getting all shots will be costly (at least a couple hundred bucks) but that's nothing in the grand scheme of things. Who knows. She may not need any because of the allergies.

Good luck. And if you wouldn't mind, keep us posted.

Thanks for all of your comments! I really appreciate it! I'll do nothing now, and worry about it later, after Zhenya arrives.

You cannot be found to be allergic until you get a specific thing and react. Each vaccine is different as well so I doubt that her story will work at avoiding being required to get all her vaccines. Depending on what is or is not available from your health department the cost here could be substantial. Some vaccines are hundreds of dollars EACH when obtained from a private provider! If at all possible I would strongly recommend getting all her vaccines done there or having substantial documentation (with English translations!) of any supposed 'allergies'!

I don't think anyone will buy the allergy excuse especially if she "never had any at all". Start getting them done over there or be prepared to do it here for whatever it costs.

I also agree. Also allergic reactions can change from childhood to adulthood. They will be much cheaper if any can be done there. Also I agree, without any medical background, I can not think of why an allergy to one vaccine will mean an allergy to all; doesn't make sense.

Egg allergy can cause reactions because the vaccines are grown in eggs.

Only a few rare vaccines contain egg protein and are considered a risk. To my knowledge non that are required for AOS.

How can one become an adult and have never had a vaccination?

Maybe the first time I've ever heard of it.
