I-129 Question

I received my NOA stating that my I-129 has been approved on September 6, 2006. In the box at the top of the notice it has valid from 9/6/2006 to 1/5/07. Then on Sept 18, I recevied a letter from NVC stating that they have received my I-129 and they would be fowarding it to the Consulate within a week. I still have not heard anything from the consulate regarding an interview. Does anyone know if the valid date of 1/5/07 on the I-129 means anything. Should I receive my interview date from the consulate before this date or what exactly does this date mean? Our Consulate is Juarez.

Yes the approval is good for four months. No guarantees your interview will occur during that time. The consulate has the discretion to extend the approval for another 4 mos but this is not automatic. When you get close to the expiration date you can submit a request for extension. If you look in the forms area there is a sample form.

YMMV

R&E, Juarez is really really backed up. You probably won't hear from them until it's closer to the expiration. At immigrate2us.net we have about 4 members still waiting for an interview date and they were approved at the end of August. Patience is the game with Juarez.
