The Facts About Russian Orphans

There are approximately 15,000 children that leave orphanages each year once they finish the 9th grade. They are usually 16-18 years old. Of these children:

  • 50% - fall into a high-risk category (ie. prostitution)
  • 40% - become drug users
  • 40% - commit crimes
  • 10% - commit suicide

Only 10% of Russian orphans adapt to somewhat “normal” lives in Russia. Source: Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as shown on the website www.iOrphan.org.

So you want to tell the mother that she has less of a right to live than the embryo or fetus she is carrying. You want to sit there and say that you can make a better decision than the woman that's personally impacted by the decision. What gives you the right to sentence that woman to death?

Let's not pretend she was in perfect health before becoming pregnant and will go back to being so after the pregnancy is terminated.

That is not the case here at all and your attempts to obfuscate those facts are despicable and revealing.

Testy, aren't we? You don't know what her condition was nor do you know what the outcome of treatment would be. And as you just said, "We're a civilized species. We don't make life or death decisions for an entire category of people based on the average outcome.". And yet, here you want to justify your indefensible position by doing just that. I take it you are conceding that you are not part of this civilized species you were referring to. What you should have posted earlier then is "You are a civilized species. You don't..." ;)

You clearly have a reading problem. I'm done with you.

I don't have no reading problem. You want to sentence women who have a medical condition that requires treatment which does not allow for a simultaneous pregnancy (the category of people) to death merely because on average their chances of survival aren't anything to get excited about. That is making a life and death decision for a category of people based on average outcome. Civilized people don't do that. You said as much yourself. Yet that is what you want to do. Hence, you're not part of the group you call "a civilized people". Now go drag your knuckles back into your cave.

There's a lot of good fodder for the prison industry in there. They need to grow too. At the end of the day, these corporations are people, my friend. And they do make significant political contributions. How is the Prison Industrial Complex supposed to meet Wall Street's expectations if you take away all these potential inmates? You think this is about life? Dude, it's about life without parole.

Gotta love how they try to spin this to try and be an American story even though it's not. Typical FAR-left wing whacko bullshit.

Yes, we must encourage single mothers to be pro-life and that it is Gods will.

Saddam Hussein, Jack the Ripper, Charles Manson, Adolph Hitler, Dahmer, and Breivik...They all never knew their father.

God works in mysterious ways when it comes to fatherless children.

Dominican Republic? What?

Why, that's just awful. Catholic-stuff everywhere, in the DR, right?

Makes sense that abortion is illegal there, with the influence of the Catholic Church.

IMO, to overcome 'this Religious tainting' of the government, all these wonderful radical pro-life organizations in the USA out to make their exodus INTO the D.R., and OCCUPY the D.R. until it's too cost prohibitive to deport them, and then MAYBE all of the protests will do some good.

On a lighter note, what's the 'people' of the D.R. saying about all of this? Aren't they incensed that a 16 year old unmarried girl that lives at home with her parents, is pregnant? Surely they are upset that bureaucrats got involved in the timeliness of her death, aye?

Seriously - what about the peepul in the D.R. ? Where's their reaction and protest ?

It actually disgust me that anyone feels they have a right to force a woman into having a child they do not want. And on top of that using the excuse that it is gods will... I find it disgusting. Didn't god give us free will? Aren't we allowed to use that free will?

For those that say it's gods will, you don't have to make an abortion, it's your choice your opinion you have a right to that opinion for YOURSELF. But you do NOT have the right to FORCE that OPINION onto others.

 What I quoted was from CNN. The video is on CNN as well.

It's not an American story, but it eventually could be.

What's whacko about this story, exactly, that you disagree with? Share with the class.
