Do I need to file a new SS card which does not have the "valid only with DHS authorization"? Is it necessary to do? Or using the old SS card showing the "valid only with DHS authorization " still acceptable?

Is there a cost for replacement?

You do not have to, but it is a good idea to update your status to permanent resident in their system. There is no charge to get the new SS card without that stipulation on it and your number remains the same. Just take in your green card to the SSA, fill out another form, like you did for the first one, and you should receive your new card in 7-10 business days.

Thanks. How about the EAD card, does it get invalidated after I receive the Green Card?

Yes as the GC is the Holy Grail for a LPR. It allows you to work and re-enter the US. You will now be interested in how to keep the GC and should take a look at the USCIS' requirements for maintaining your GC.

Good luck,

Dave

I need some advice about SSN.

Should I get a SSN just with an EAD or should I wait for GC interview to be done first and find out if I'm gonna get approved or not.

And if ever I apply before GC approval and use my maiden on SSN, once I get my GC can I change my maiden name to my husabands last name

It is best to start your own thread so people will read it.

Why are you asking about EAD when you have IR/CR-1 in your profile. What visa have you applied for?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

My husband and I married here in US and petitioned me after, then applied for AOS. It says on IR-CR1 that its a visa for immediate relative.

I don't know the difference of being petitioned outside of US.
