vermont processing petition

So I have been regularly watching the timelines and processing times for K-1 visas and it seems the California is chugging along nicely and working on May/June now, meanwhile Vermont is still stalled in February. I can imagine that this is stressing out a lot of people.

I was thinking that if we collectively sent a petition to request that applications be distributed so that they have a fair shot at being processed in a reasonable time frame (i.e. less than 5 months) that might be more effective then sending individual letters to congressmen/women.

Has anything like this ever been done? Would many of you be willing to sign a petition to this effect?

06/20/2012 -- I-129F mailed

Im in too! Havent been waiting too long yet like some people - NA01 June 27th, but the wait times for VSC is just ridiculous especially with CSC approving in half the time! How do we go about doing this?!

The average wait time is 5 months but there is no gaurantee that your petition will be approved within that time, it's an average and thus some will wait longer, less and that exact amount of time.

Have you contacted a congressman, USCIS or anyone else re: your petition, yet?

I wish you luck but I don't think this will do you any good.:(

I agree. Don't get me wrong my heart goes out to all VSCers at this point, but I don't think a petition like this will do any good, ESPECIALLY when the August 17 update of USCIS processing times doesn't even show that they are processing I-129Fs at a slower rate than their goal of "5 months on average".

So it would seem that such a petition would only have anecdotal evidence backing it up.

You have to remember that VJ is not an official site. How would you prove that CSC is doing things faster than their 5 month goal and VSC is doing things slower than that goal?

Good point there. Petitions are great - if they get taken seriously. But it just takes one guy at the top of USCIS to say "no". I secretly think the government want us all to wait longer to put off potential scammers looking for a "quick fix". Who knows? We never will.

I do realize that VJ is non affiliated but with public information, we can easily tell there is a delay going on. Obviously USCIS is under no obligation to do anything, sometimes making a little noise gets somebody higher up putting pressure on the right person. My experience with gov't organizations is that they don't have financial reasons to work efficiently, but it only takes a little incentive from the right entity to get things moving.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil, but no employee at the VSC is going to squeak for us.

I made this on sign on. I tried to be considerate of others who are waiting.

This is what I get when I enter the data in the dashboard under 'My Case Status' on USCIS:

USCIS National Goal - 5.0 Month(s)

USCIS National Average - 7.2 Month(s)

Vermont Service Center - 5.0 Month(s)

Yes, clearly it states 5 months for VSC. However, this is complete bologna when it is clear from this site alone that people at VSC are getting approvals at 6 and 7 months. At this point, 5 months would be the outlier. CSC is approving at 4 and 5 and some 3 so where does this 'National Average' increase come from? It certainly isn't coming from CSC. Regardless, people are going to have to wait. Even if the average is a lie, 6 months is not so far out that anyone is going to be panicking at USCIS.
