You'd have thought the voting public would have learned by now. Somehow, though, I doubt it. :(

No wonder the politicians get away with a bunch of nonsense.

That's what you're voting for when making your check-mark next to the GOP candidates. This is your new and improved GOP.

I usually vote GOP and no way I would support such a Tard. No way he represets the typical Republican any more than Jesse Jackson Jr. represents the typical Dem. How could any idiot say that ?

He'll join the religious nut caucus. It's not like people of his caliber aren't in Congress already. And Republicans keep sending more of these misfits in.

and you have to admit the Dems send as many idiots but in a different direction. That is why we should lay all social issues aside and become libertarians.

Republicans voted for him to challenge Sen McCaskill, didn't they? They had the choice between sane candidates and this insane fool. They opted for the insane.

If he doesn't make it to the US Senate, it'll be despite the Republicans not because of them. Always remember that.

The president is now holding a surprise briefing and he is talking about this insane comment.

ah yes.. You know.. I do remember reading in years past that it was rare for a rape to result in a full term pregnancy because the trauma and general mental state of the woman afterwards would result in a miscarriage in many cases. As a person that is pro-choice I did not investigate it farther as I figured 100% ended the way they needed to... I have no doubt that in the upcoming days we will see reference to that "research" so that the anti-abortion bible-thumpers out there can put that through the god filter and make it all OK in their heads..

Having said that, with the current events I sure would have liked to look up the information to make sure there was no validity to the mans claims... Of course Google is now mostly useless for doing quick type searches for this. Anytime a person in one political party says something really stupid like this there is always the immediate response from the non-thinking sheep on the other side to whoop it up and pretend they have never heard anything so crazy (i.e. read this thread) so the first umpteen pages in any search will only be the almost giddy "I can't beleive he said that!" posted to news sites and blogs everywhere.

The extremes on both sides... they just... I dunno its just depressing.

There's an NIH study that puts the percentage of rapes resulting in pregnancy at what the scientists conducting the study considered a significant level, 5% I believe. I'll post the link when I get back from lunch.

Isn't that obvious? He means cases where rape actually occurred, as opposed to when the woman is lying about it.

Even then, as Honey Crumpet's link above shows... he's wrong.
