Applying for I-130 from Egypt

I'm in Egypt now and I married a man here and I want to bring my husband to the US and the embassy here doesn't accept the I-130 form anymore. It must be submitted from the US. I'm going to file it and let my mother send it through the mail with all the evidence they need. I'm not planning to go back to the US without my husband. Will that work? I want to know if they are going to ask me for an interview or something else inside the US after I submit the I-130 from the US. How can they know that my signature is real?

Sure u can send ur application from Egypt to the lockbox. Since u are the citizen filing abroad u may get a faster processing but u are still looking at a 8 to 12 process.

However you need to be lining up who will be doing the affidavit of support (co-sponsor) you need to make sure all your tax transcripts are in order and than setting up domicile in US.

Read the guides.

Also don't know why you ask about signature what does that have to do with anything?

The lockbox facility in Chicago accepts submissions from overseas, there is no requirement to be in the US to submit the forms and evidence. Therefore, you can send the appropriate forms and evidence directly to the USCIS intake facility if you can enclose the fee payment that is in accordance with the I-130 instructions in regards to paying the fee.

It will likely be faster if you file the petition indicating YOU are now living in Egypt. Yes, it will "work" but it may be several months before he has an immigrant spouse visa. If you file using your US address, think more in terms of a year. If you'll be staying in Egypt with him, file with your Egypt address and stay. Your time together living as husband and wife will be the strongest evidence you can have of a bona fide relationship and that's your big hurdle. Be prepared for a period of administrative processing AFTER the visa interview. This could be several weeks to several months.

Enjoy your time in Egypt, because he's not coming to the USA right away.

Thank you for your reply, it was really helpful. but do you have any idea about things which can support our bona fides of marriage too since we are in Egypt now like our lease of the apartment in Egypt, and if a shared bank account in Egypt will support this too then we will create one. take in mind we are married now for a month and I'm going to have a stamp of residence in my passport next week, should we take a photo copy of this too?

You will be submitting proof of ur citizenship whether birth certificate or passport. An interview just for a verification of a signature no. Many many people file while living abroad its fine.

Just get ur packet together and send off.

Read and study and follow the guides on the top of the page for IR1/CR1.

You have a lot of work to do. Good luck. And enjoy sounds like heaven living with hubby. I did.

You will be providing a lot of personal information to prove you are who you are. Birth certificates, copies of passport, social security number... etc...... I personally do not understand your unnecessary concern regarding your signature.

They will be looking for the affidavit of support proving that you make enough US money to support him or that you have someone else will to commit to that.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Any and all evidence is warranted in Egypt. Please see the section Note: Evidence of Bonafide Marriage

Now it is time for you to study all the aspects of the spouse visa process. Do some reading here in Visa Journey using the guides, this spouse visa forum, and the MENA (Middle East, North Africa) regional forum to prepare yourselves.

The interview will be months away. You have lots of time to prepare for that. The first step is properly filing the I-130 petition.

You will also have to satisfy the affidavit of support requirements. If your income is not sufficient you will have to secure a joint sponsor.

Best of luck to you both.

You dont interview. He does and that done in Egypt. Proof of you marrige is pretty easy if you have been living with him in Egypt for the year leading up to his interview. That and anything you will have the shows the things we all have as married people.

You will have to show your ability to earn U S dollars to support him. You will do that by providing tax transcripts with the 864 form.

Hello guys, does anyone knows about trusted link which talk about step by step i-130 filling like to explain and talk about all the questions? and what about question 2 in part B? should I put my abroad address? if I'm living in Egypt since I married waiting to get back to the USA when I can get him with me. will that affect me having an address inside the USA where I can live in ? as I called the USCIS and they told me to put my US address and there is some respected members here talking about putting my Egypt address to make my application go faster.. I'm really confused and need help. please explain clearly.

The guides here on VJ along with the form instructions can give you what you need. Do your reading in the MENA regional forum as well to learn what others going through the same embassy are experiencing. No need to start another thread to get the same input that you've received in your two other threads.

You have to show a US domicile at the interview. You can use your overseas address for the filing. It may end up going more quickly than using a US address.
