Hi guys, hoping someone maybe able to share some insight. We only recently filed our I-130, which was received at the chicago lockbox address on the 3rd of August, but sadly we failed to complete & enclose a G 1145 form, in order to receive online notifications/updates.

Is there anyway this oversight can be rectified? We're so gutted that we now cant keep updated, and instead have to wait for physical snail-mail notification which could mean we receive no word for months :(

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated/welcomed :)

Hi,

We didn’t file a G 1145 either but once you get a notice of action with a receipt number, you can go to the USCIS website and check your case status by typing in the receipt number.

Good luck!

go on line uscis check case status with your case number.

Not sure how one receives their case number? I'm guessing you cant phone anyone for this, and that you just wait for correspondence to arrive in the post? Thanks for replying jkelly :)

Hi MeishaKay :)

thank you so much for giving us your input. It means so much to us. Just out of interest, how does one obtain their receipt number usually? Does this come in the mail at the time they respond with a decision on your I-130 petition?

hi kenjohn, you received your case number on your 797 receipt letter that was sent sent to you look on the receipt you will see a number three letters and 10 numbers, EAC1212121212,east coast, or WAC1212121212 west coast center, when you check case status on you will see a box to put your case number and click there it will say your case was sent on aug 3 . keep checking that case status online.

Hi - You can also register at https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/displayLogon.do for email and SMS notifications (once you have your receipt number). We too missed to send G1145, but got email (SMS did not work) notification same day our application was approved with hard copy delivered 3 days later.

Hope this helps.

No probs Kelly & John,

Did you find your receipt number on your Notice of Action? :)

Thanks guys for all the help. It certainly is awesome to have folks to turn to with this stuff.

Sadly we have yet to receive anything in the post, so I am assuming we just sort of wait around for the next 7 days? (which wll make it 30 days since we filed the I-130 *we filed the 27th of july, I-130 received by chicago lockbox on the 3rd of august*) in order to receive this 'receipt' or 'notice of action'

we are obviously holding off on calling anyone as it is early days in the process, I dont want to become a pain in the proverbial at this early stage.. plenty of time for that right? lol

Thanks so much MeishaKay for your advice and the welcomed replies. :)

Thank you G & S :) we will try to apply some patience and await that receipt number. Hopefully folks ive spoken with off this site are right when they say you should get this 'receipt' number within 30days of filing the I-130
