Hello,

This past week my husband and I received a letter staing that we have an interview scheduled for about 3 weeks from now. We did have an interview for the AOS and all went smoothly. We did not receive an RFE letter for our I751, but apparently were selected for another interview. From what I understand, this is pretty atypical. I am not concerned, but my husand is definitely curious to hear about any one else's experiences who may have gone through an ROC interview as far as what types of questions were asked, etc. Thank you kindly for any responses you may have to offer.

Thank you,

Melynda

A certain number of cases are selected for interview on a random basis.

edit: The removal of conditions in a separate step. I assume this is a first interview at this stage.

We were interviewed at the AOS stage and again at ROC. We never received any RFEs at either stage, and our case was very straightforward with lots of evidence. We can only imagine that it was random. We were not given an approval or denial at the ROC interview but had to wait 2 months before getting any news. At an Infopass, we were told that we had just been approved. The interview was slightly more involved than the AOS interview, and the IO focused mostly on joint finance information. Good luck!

We were interviewed for AOS and ROC too. After waiting almost 10 months on our ROC at CSC (with no word from them -apart from the biometrics) and two service requests later, we received a letter to say that we had to go to an interview for ROC.

The interview was pretty much the same as AOS. The officer went through the questions on the I-751 form and asked where and when we got married, our date of birth, our phone number, where we work. He asked us how we met. He photocopied our drivers licences, then asked for bank statements, car insurance policies, tax transcripts etc. I gave him my expired green card and at the end of the interview he said that we were approved.

All the best with your interview!!!

Can I ask, was this all stuff you had submitted in the original application? Like they wanted a second copy of tax transcripts, or you had a new one between submitting it and the interview?

He asked to look at a few of the original evidence we sent in the package and we also showed the officer a new tax transcript, new car insurance policy and a few newish bank statements which he added to our file

Assuming, as everyone else is here, that this is your 1st RoC interview (and 2nd overall, counting AoS), this also happened to us. I wrote a post about the interview here, and the more general thread is here.

In the end, for us, everything turned out fine and in fact my wife recieved her US passport just a few days ago (our RoC was over a year ago now). Good luck on your interview!

Unless the evidences you submitted were truly thinner than air, then I don't think you should worry. Could be you are just one of those 10% quota where USCIS must meet in terms of interviewing. They call it Quality Control.

As long as it's in good faith, bring whatever they are asking and relax. It'll be over before you know it.

it means if you did interview in AOS, you have an interview in ROC too?
Not automatically.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Very helpful to know re:finances, I will definitely make sure that I'm prepared for that when we go in. Thanks!

Yes, I did mean that we did have an interview for AOS, and this interview will be our second interview overall.

Wow...congrats! Hope we have a similar experience, but you just never know. I felt that the first interview was very easy, but then again, when you are legitimately married, it should be easy.

Can I ask, was this all stuff you had submitted in the original application? Like they wanted a second copy of tax transcripts, or you had a new one between submitting it and the interview?

The letter states for you to bring originals AND a copy...even though you have already previously sent the documents.

Ah, it's all good...I'm not worried at all, but my husband is worried about remembering all of my aunts/uncles/parent's birthdays and such. I told him it's all good and there is nothing to worry about. God willing he won't stress himself out in the mean time.
