Moving back to Toronto and pressed for time!

Hi everyone,

This is my first time here and wow, there's some really good information out there! I have been a bit stressed out about the possibility of moving back to Canada so i thought I would post here and ask for your help. I hope this is the right forum to ask.

I moved to the US 4 years ago for school and my OPT (F-1) status has expired. I am currently on my 60-day grace period which is ending in mid-Sept. My goal was to find a job and get a job letter to get a TN visa to work but that has proven to be extremely difficult so I am now seriously considering moving back to Canada. I am a Canadian citizen. I will be occupying my apartment in New York until the end of September so I was hoping to return to Toronto before my grace period and return as a tourist to finish packing up my stuff (This is because I assume I won't have enough time to move everything before). Would this be a problem? I understand that when I enter the border in Canada the first time (as post-F1 visa) it shouldn't be too much of a problem but when I re-enter the States as a tourist, and then return to Canada with all my belongings, would they give me trouble? I'm debating whether to drive myself or hire a mover, since it'll cost a lot to rent a moving company.

Also, I only worked for less than a year here and never had to file income tax. But I will have to do so next year and wondering how that works if I will be in Canada.

Any help would be awesome. Thank you!!!!
